8. Wisconsin 5 is not vulnerable.
I'm sorry, but I've lived there. You are dealing with Waukesha, Washington, and Ozaukee counties there. No frickin' way.

3. Nevada 2 and 3
I don't think we'll flip either one but they definitely belong on the lost of targeted seats. Jim Gibbons is giving up his seat in District 2 to run for governor, where he is the frontrunner. We have a good candidate in Jill Derby who will be heavily funded and has some strength in the rural areas of the state. Gibbon's wife is one of the Republican candidates for the nomination, and probably the frontrunner. It's such a GOP district in terms of registration we're always up against it., nearly a 50,000 edge. Plus, in Nevada the Republicans tend to turn out in higher numbers than Democrats in midterms.

Jon Porter is a pathetic incumbent in Nevada 3. It's a district that was drawn by the GOP legislature to start 50/50 then tilt slightly Republican as time passed, due to the new high income housing developments in north Las Vegas. Porter is favored but it's not a walkover.

6. One and a half-pickups...
Edited on Thu May-18-06 08:29 AM by Tesha
VT:

o Sanders (independent on left of Dems) replaces Jeffords (independent slightly right of Dems)

PA:

o Casey (DINO, but still a D) replaces Santorum (R-dinosaur)

I don't see any other big changes in the Senate, but I'd
love to be proven wrong.

9. About New Mexico
While we may not be able to elect a new President this year, we can secure a new congress. This year the nation's political tide will be affected by local congressional races. It is crucial for as all to support such races in "pivotal" battlegrounds. This year, one such state is New Mexico.

Please do what you can to support local races this year. If you have the time, visit www.pac505.com to learn about the New Mexico race.
