1. span 1 will start with the opening statements at 9:30AM est, but
they will switch to cspan3 at 10AM when the Hosue begins it's session.

Cspan also said to check your cable listings because there would be other sites airing it, but they didn't give a clue as to which ones.

19. observations on Hayden's words..

he uses the word 'game' alot.... Very scary he thinks he gets to control who lives and who dies and considers it a gam.

Other observation. He sees giving DOD more CIA like responsibility in supporting the military and putting CIA back into its traditional strategic intelligence role.

READ= Shut the CIA down to a skeleton organization and pull more financial and people resources into the BLOVIATINGLY DISGUSTINGLY LARGE Pentagon where he thinks it belongs.

just like making journalists embeds, they are now making CIA agents (formerly according to Ray McGovern, an ethics and culture of finding the truth regardless of political implications), make CIA agents fully accountable to the political demands of the pentagon..

congratulations folks.. we have not only WIPED OUT THE THREE BRANCH SYSTEM, but we have taken the one orgnization that could serve to provide American Executive branch the facts for Iran or Iraq whatever, and removed their power and their reach and we have now made the FASCISM in America, complete..

the military is in control folks, but the real question is, who controls the military? i'm not convinced bush/cheney have full control of the military... i'm thinking bush sr. and carlyle control the military... thoughts?

same question 4 times and still not getting an answer, I don't know why americans are not up in arms over having a nazi take over their CIA a nazi who thinks that it's OK to eavesdrop on americans if the call originates or lands outside the US..

what the fuck difference does it make if I call Iraq.. you don't have a right to eavesdrop on me.... you just fucking don't...

I can't tell if you said one thing and done another , or parsed your words like a lawyer to intentionally mislead the public... what's to say if you are confirmed as head of CIA , we won't go thru the same thing over there?

34. BUnny Nose Twitching
Some things about Hayden:

His eyes blink every other second. Blinking eyes sign he either a. doesn't believe his own bullshit, or b. is uncomfortably hiding something

Here is the order of his facial movements:

1. NOSE TWITCHING when he's disturbed by someone

Edited on Thu May-18-06 03:04 PM by mim
Don't read too much into blinking eyes. I'm a frequent eye blinker; in fact, my eyes are blinking as I post this. Does that mean I'm lying?

About a minute after I posted this, my eyes were still blinking as I looked at the computer screen, and they're still blinking now. So what do you conclude about me?

I invite you to read my other posts on DU and remember that they all come from a frequent eye blinker.

43. the eye blinking
Edited on Thu May-18-06 04:38 PM by peacetheonlyway
and the nose twitching and the left cheek twitching and the
looking down and the right cheek twitching, it was all of this combined.
Oh, and don't forget the SMIRKY look like Chimp gets.. these guys really think they are 'righteous'. like stopping one terrorist is worth violating the privacy of 3,000 americans... it's not..

I would have left the eye blinking alone if it did not come with a plethora of other VERY TELL TALE SIGNS THE MAN HAS some psychological issues that are serious and as a citizen who pays that man's taxes, I believe those issues are worth exploring....

but they could also be Hayden's body's way of screaming to the world "I'm betraying my own beliefs, my own truths, my own values, my own dreams, my own family, my own country, my own fellow citizens, my own children, my own wife, I'm betraying them all and my cheek and nose know it but the rest of me does not"

I will feel this to the depth of my being... as to your own eye blinking, I cannot speak for the reasons this may be.... I can only say I had a left eye twitch when I was at the height of my working in the corporate world, a world that made me feel like I was selling out for a 10K a month paycheck...I can only speak from what I see and what I know about myself and what I see is a man, General Hayden, who has sold himself to the devil as the previous poster implied....

45. Eye blinking
That really set off alarm bells in me, because I've heard about this eye-blinking thing from others, including Dr. Joyce Brothers when President Clinton was in the hot seat, and it leads me to think, who needs the polygraph when everyone has his own built-in lie detector: the eyelids? And like the electric polygraph, this biological "lie detector" also produces false positives. Who wants to be branded a liar because of blinky eyes?

And since involuntary blinking can't be controlled, the only way to defend against this harmful labeling is to protest it and hope people believe you.

I listened to the hearings on the radio; I didn't need body language to tell me that Gen. Hayden is not to be trusted.

please I want you to see it...

if I was making a case for eye blinking alone, you would have a case with me, it's the total package I am complaining about ..

and no I don't think every eye blinker is lying, sometimes people don't have enough moisture or fluids in their system or other health reasons....
point well taken and well heard.. thanks for showing me the error of my ways....

in this case, it was a clear case of NO EYE BLINKING when talking about his wife, his kids, the folks at the NSA for whom he has great respect and reverence, and then the tough questions come and blinky blinky blinky...

35. I must be INSANE
Edited on Thu May-18-06 12:11 PM by peacetheonlyway
I just called into CSPAN and talked about how uncomfortable Hayden makes me.
My voice was shaking.. i was so upset... I hope I said the right things... Amazed the CSPAN guy said I should feel better they have closed door sessions on very basic questions Feinstein asked.. uh, no, I don't feel better that feinstein will be given a load of crap behind closed doors where americans cannot see and react...

I must be insane.. questioning a man who will be rubber stamped installed as CIA Chief, who has the full force of the military behind him.

wow.... I must be crazy to question my government like that...

and boy do I feel proud of myself...

bastard bunny twitch asshole.....

McGovern was right, this man has some semblance of once leading a distinguished and honest career, but it is now fully clear
a. that he is a mouthpiece to the corrupt bush administration
b. his body language shows that his spirit and his soul do not agree with his behaviour

i hope one day, for the sake of his children's future he realizes he is doing no good by playing the chess piece to a very corrupt and likely to be indicted (including hayden himself for breaking fisa court law) administration..

I give hayden about 9 months before he goes the way of Goss... resigning for protecting his ass reasons....

where I could see the good person behind the powerful asswipe.

and I see just enough of his good side to know that he's in for a real rough ride.. he'll be in the hague years from now for doing what he thought was right defending our very own Bushitler....

i don't feel sorry for him.. he goes of his own free will

but I was indeed shocked he'd point out his wife and daughter on national TV.. it's like doesn't he realize he lives in a very scary world of terrorism.. if he took the role seriously at all, he would not flaunt the people he treasures the most to get him confirmed.. sick man, very sick man.....

42. I liked Sen. Wyden's concluding statement
Edited on Thu May-18-06 04:00 PM by mim
He said that for the past 5 years, most of what he's learned about the CIA has been from the newspapers. He often jokes that he doesn't know anything; he's just a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

And Hayden says that the CIA should be out of the news, both as a source and as a subject. Which means that senators like Wyden would know next to nothing. A few senators pointed out that trust is earned, and when the CIA is in the news it's because the people have gotten suspicious. Without going into the question of how the media are doing their job, I'll just say now that that's the sliver of truth in the canard of the liberal media. What I wish some senator had said was, "Why should we trust you?"

Overall, Hayden is in the Alberto Gonzales tradition of evasiveness. His favorite cop-outs seem to be, "I don't remember that," "That would let the terrorists know too much," and "I'm not a lawyer." At least that last one was something Gonzales couldn't say.

But I liked how Russ Feingold exposed Hayden's contradictions. Hayden had a hard time trying to wriggle out of those questions. You go, Russ!

And remember, you heard this from an eye blinker.
