Specter to Feingold: 'I don't need to be lectured by you'
I was looking for that cspan3 stream and came across this.

'Same-sex marriage hearing gets testy; amendment passes"

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A Senate committee approved a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage Thursday, after a shouting match that ended when one Democrat strode out and the Republican chairman bid him "good riddance."

I don't need to be lectured by you. You are no more a protector of the Constitution than am I," Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter, R-Pennsylvania, shouted after Sen. Russ Feingold declared his opposition to the amendment, his affinity for the Constitution and his intention to leave the meeting.

"If you want to leave, good riddance," Specter finished.

"I've enjoyed your lecture, too, Mr. Chairman," replied Feingold, D-Wisconsin, who is considering a run for president in 2008. "See ya."

1. Arlen Specter and his hot flashes
I am so sick of this twit. He forgets who or what he's supposed to be sucking, and then he goes all hormonally imbalanced and acts out in the most unimpressive ways.

For god's sake, give the hysteric some chocolate and tell him to take a nap.

3. You Know, Specter Is A Lot Of Hot Air...
I think he speaks out of both sides of his mouth all the time. They call him a Moderate Repuke, but he NEVER really seems to do anything after he makes "moderate" statements.

I think he just does to make himself seem less radical. But I've seen him go off quite a bit this past year. Remember his exchange with Kennedy? And he really is very vituperative!

I don't like him at all, and trust him even less.

9. Yeah, I keep forgetting what a good guy Specter is supposed to be
Arlen looks good only because he's standing next to Rick Santorum.

Maybe it would be easier if Specter just told us who deserves constitutional rights, and who doesn't. That would solve all this amendment messiness. Whaddya think, Arlen? Should Jews have equal rights when they don't believe in Jesus Christ? Should cancer patients be allowed rights, considering all the medical resources they suck up and how little they're able to give back to society? Check with your beady-eyed hypocritical masters on those and get back to us, would you?

The moderate mole. The guy who allegedly staves off Bush/Rove's extremeism, until the vote, that is. We're on to you Specter. Magic bullet my ass!

Perhaps his conscience has been nagging him. Too bad it doesn't win the argument.

4. Specter is such a sleazebag
Edited on Thu May-18-06 12:11 PM by ugarte
He parades around like some kind of deeply thoughtful constitutional protector/independent thinker, yet he always votes with his party. How does he differ from Falwell or any of the rest of the nutcases?

5. GOPs are trying to rescue their poll numbers by attacking gays - - - again
I think the public is getting tired of the tactic, and is not as interested in being part of it as they once were.

12. Dr. Phool... Just The One I Wanted To Talk To!
Off topic here, but I need to ask a question that I SHOULD know the answer to, but don't. I get bogged down here and don't get to the Florida Forum as much as I should, but can you tell me if Brain Moore decided to run against Nelson?

I am making more of an effort to check Florida more often now.

13. Irony
Specter doesn't need to be lectured on the Constitution while he sits there and passes an amendment resolution denying rights to a significant number of Americans.

Just which Constitution was he referring to?

11. So Arlen voided his oath to
uphold and protect the Constitution? Maybe its time we had a refresher course in just what this precious document is supposed to mean. I don't think the critters in Congress know for sure lately. I don't remember any of them pledging alliegence to GOP, the neocons or Chimpoleon over the United States of America. Or did I miss something?

24. Oh, Arlen
that comment you made to Senator Feingold, is not very professional, it is arrogance in its highest form. Good Riddance, Arlen. Arlen really thinks he is on that pedestal doesn't he.

Good for Feingold for being professional and diplomatic.
