What if?
Edited on Fri May-19-06 11:45 AM by William769
People November 2008 (in politics) is a lifetime away!

Here is one for you: What if we lose big in November 2006? Thats what you should be concerned about!

Heres a better one: What can we do in November 2006 to insure a land slide win.

just some food for thought.

P.S. These What if Presidential polls for 2008, get a life!

ON EDIT: spelling.

2. hey
I recomed developing grass roots activism as a way to fight for the goals you want. You cant reply on some degenerate dem candidate to help you out. The people are on their own and can only help eachother. I take it your into the G/L/B/T movement, if so stop seeking assimilation and try for a real resistance to the norm to get your voice heard.

3. Volunteer with your local Democratic Committee.
Lick stamps, walk precincts, put up campaign signs, make phone calls, drive people to the polls, canvas precincts, solicit donations, etc. All mundane stuff, but that's the grist for the political mill. It's what's going to help us to win in November.

While you're at it, tell the county chair that you want to be appointed as a precinct committee person. When you've done that, you can take a more active part in the county party. This is less mundane. You get to go to the county convention, vote as a delegate, etc. From there, you can also move up the ladder. Run for district delegate, state delegate. national delegate. If you make it all the way, you get to wear funny shirts, hats, and political buttons and possibly be seen on national TV. Lots of fun, that.

That's how you help Dems win in November.

4. "What can we do in November 2006 to insure a land slide win" . . .

well, someone better solve the voting machine problem -- and particularly the tabulation problem, i.e. who counts the votes, and how . . . especially in key states that could swing the House or Senate one way or the other . . .

what happened in 2000 and 2004 will most assuredly happen again in 2006 . . . unless we find a way to stop it . . .

5. And donate money to good Dem candidates NOW!!
The DCCC and DSCC have only targeted a few races where they will spend all of their money. Find a candidate you like, and send them money now.

The 2nd quarter reporting period is up in less than 45 days, and this will set the stage for support from progressive PAC's and individuals.

When you solicit a union or PAC for money, the first thing they look at is how much money you've already raised. Catch-22 is that you haven't raised enough already, they're not giving you any now, because you don't appear viable.

Maybe host a small fundraising party, invite friends and neighbors. Tell them to bring their checkbooks, and meet a nice candidate.
