And it has a pretty sensible approach to this issue about New Orleans. First of all, I get a little tired of seeing Dean painted as a homophobe here at DU and now as a racist. It is not about those of us who are "Deaniacs" being touchy, as so many like to jump into threads to say...getting silly about that. It is about thinking.

Last week the attacks on him were unending..from Begala (TWICE). From the gay community, still going on intensely. And now the right wing blogs are picking it up straight from Drudge....that Dean is a racist.

Chris has a post you need to read. Here is the quote from Donna Brazile.

"1. It is completely unsourced.

2. I already have a better on the record source than Drudge. I received this from Donna Brazile:
"The Democratic National Committee did not endorse any candidate for Mayor of New Orleans. The Party's role was simply to help educate, inform and assist displaced voters."
So I'm already one step ahead of Drudge on this story."

(edited for a better link for the diary.)

Read it and think what we are doing to our party here.

Remember that we knew this crooked bunch would never go down easy. They are going to do everything they can to take some Democrats down with them. They have them lined up with their dossiers ready, to attack them one by one.

I have seen hate posts against Hillary here today, Kerry as well. No one gets spared here.

1. Thanks for posting this.
I wasn't every really a Deaniac, but I sure like the job he's been doing as DNC chair.

We really need to learn how to give each other the benefit of the doubt.

2. Well, it is getting out of control.
We have too much at stake to do this to each other.

5. To help us remember who the enemy is, here is the Corruption page
from the DNC. I posted it in GD, but it won't hurt here.

6. Dean's biggest sin - He's insufficiently PC for some folks
Not being politically correct and speaking his mind is one of the things I admire most about Howard Dean. It gets him in trouble sometimes, but it is so refreshing after the plain vanilla crap most polticians spout.

7. DNC is talking to lawyers about this. See my post above.
"Finney told RAW STORY Monday she had just gotten off the phone with Joe Sandler of Sandler, Reiff & Young, the committee's attorney, and says the DNC is exploring legal options. A second DNC staffer confirmed the account.

"I have called our lawyer to see what if any legal actions we may have," Finney remarked. "The DNC does not as a policy get involved in Democratic primaries."

Finney seemed stunned by the Drudge claim. The Committee's involvement in the New Orleans race, she said, was limited to get out the vote efforts and placing poll watchers to ensure residents got an opportunity to vote. The DNC also set up a toll-free 800 number to help displaced residents locate their polling area.

"We did have poll watchers out to make sure people weren’t disenfranchised but it wasn’t on behalf of any candidate," she remarked. "It’s completely outrageous."

8. I support Dean but I wish he wouldn't have hired Donna Brazile.
I think she is a hack and has worked to undermine Dems.

I don't give a damn if her skin is black, white, purple or green. I wish Dean would replace her.

That said, I'm glad the DNC has put out a statement, and even more glad that they are talking to lawyers.

10. Okay then, I wish...
He would replace her.

Okay, I know it's not that simple. Sigh.
