New Book -- "Fight Club Politics" or "How Knute Gingrich screwed us all"
Edited on Tue May-23-06 09:58 PM by Up2Late
O.K., I made up the second book title, but If you ever wondered how or why things are so screwed up in the U.S. House and Federal Government in general, you need to either hear this interview, or read this new book (or both). Juliet Eilperin, Former Washington Post Congressional correspondent, and current National Corespondent, really lays it out well in this interview, what has gone so wrong in the House. (Hint: it's almost completely the fault of the Republicans.)

She also mentions that she wanted to call the book "Rigged," but her publisher was too nervous about that title. It sounds like a very good book, here's the link to the interview:

'Fight Club Politics'

Fresh Air from WHYY, May 23, 2006 ·
Former Washington Post Congressional correspondent Juliet Eilperin says
warlike tactics, manipulation and strategic takeovers have replaced
compromise in the House. She drives home the point in her new book,
Fight Club Politics: How Partisanship is Poisoning the U.S. House of Representatives.

5. Sorry, I think all my hate for him blocked me from the correct spelling.
I must have found about a dozen different spellings on the net. Funny thing is, I voted against him several times (my Former non-representative Representative).

3. Heard her interview on NPR today. Don't like her.
She took far too much time bashing Dems for even having a finger in the same cookie jar that the damn GOP have their whole heads in.

Still, it was a pretty enlightening interview, especially when she talked about how Gingrich changed the rules of orientation for junior members of the Senate.
