Wes Clark: "2008 is IRRELEVANT!"
As told by Patrick Murphy, the Fighting Dem/prosecutor/educator who is challenging Repub incumbent, Michael Fitzpatrick for congressional district PA-08, in the Philly suburbs.

Murphy was on AAR's Majority Report with Sam Seder yesterday. Said he had excused himself from a meeting with Clark who stopped by on his way to Kosovo. Murphy said he'd told Clark he was all behind him for a "Clark '08" campaign, but Clark responded, "2008 is irrelevant! We need to win in 2006." Clark also told Murphy "any time you need me, you call me."

From what I gather, it was a simple strategy meeting. No hype, no publicity. Just one good Democrat trying to help another get elected. Clark hasn't even endorsed Murphy yet, altho I'd expect they're both waiting for an opportunity to get the most media possible. From what I hear, Murphy's biggest hurdle so far has been name recognition.

Murphy's a good man. He has a real good shot at winning this critical seat. According to his website, he's been endorsed by:
Senator John Kerry
Congressman Robert Brady
Congressman John Murtha
Gen. Claudia Kennedy
General Robert Kelley
Bucks County Commissioner, Sandra A. Miller
The Bucks County Democratic Committee
The American Federation of Teachers
Americans for Democratic Action
Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America
The Philadelphia Inquirer

Please consider giving him any help you can. http://www.murphy06.com/

1. 2008 actually is irrelevant.......
cause what happens in 2006 will affect us differently depending on the outcome.

If we gain congress back, Iraq may not be the same issue that it might if we don't, etc., etc., etc......

4. Not just Iraq
If we don't win, not only might Iraq not be any better, it may be totally eclipsed by Iran. We could have a draft. The deficit will be almost certainly worse. Social Security as we know it dead. Big Oil will get its hooks on ANWAR. Media more securely in corporate pockets. Further restrictions on personal choice and further invasions of personal privacy. And on and on and on.

There are a million things Bush can do if he has NOTHING to keep him in check. All of them bad.

But possibly the most significant, in my opinion, is that if we don't control at least one house of Congress, there will be no significant election reform. With every election, the technology gets more sophisticated and it gets easier and easier to hack the machines with no way to prove it's been done. We may never have another chance to take back our democracy.

2. I'm really happy to hear someone,
like Gen. Clark say that 2008 is irrelevant. This needs to be shouted from the roof tops, if we don't win in 06, we want have a country to govern in 08.

Peace!

3. Some might say that you are exaggerating the political
dangers. I say you are very likely "right on the money".

5. As always, Country before self.
That's an indication of his understanding and leadership.

6. What showed me that Clark really means it...
...was when he did not push people to contribute a lot of money to WesPAC at the fundraiser that George Soros held for Clark at his home. Clark's message was that he only wanted enough to keep WesPAC small and efficiently operating in support of 2006 Candidates for right now.

I never receive an email from Clark asking for money for his own organization. It is always an appeal to donate money directly to one deserving Democrat or another who has a tough race to win in 2006.
