Ted Kennedy: Call to Service
Fellow Democrats:

Truer words have never been said:

"This November's elections will be a referendum on the failures of the Bush Administration and his rubber-stamp Republican Congress. Democrats are ready to lead, and I pledge to do all I can to fulfill the promise of a government that works for all the people, not just the privileged few....."

I am proud to support my senior Senator for re-election. Who's with me?

===================================================

by email

I couldn't be prouder of the work we've done together lately -- standing up and fighting on the Senate floor and in communities across America on important issues like immigration reform and raising the minimum wage. Members of the TedKennedy.com community -- not just in Massachusetts, but nationwide -- have answered the call to service, and spoken out on these and other vital issues.

I heard that call to public service when I first ran for the Senate, and I hear it just as clearly today. It drives everything I do in the Senate, and I'm running for reelection this year to continue that solemn responsibility.

We're building a campaign on the ground right now -- volunteers are being recruited, precinct captains are being assigned. Our country needs passionate leaders and real solutions in Washington, and I count on my campaign to help set the bar.

The campaign can move the field operation into high gear and put materials and logistical support on the ground with an additional $20,000 this week. Will you help my campaign?

The campaign operation has already been working hard in communities across Massachusetts. Standing outside grocery stores or knocking on doors to sign a petition is challenging work for our network of staff and volunteers. But, like you, every single one of them believes in the values we hold dear.

The energy and hope I see in the eyes of everyone working on our campaign inspire me every day. Seeing them stand up for our principles -- like raising the minimum wage and valuing the hard work of millions of Americans -- makes me even more passionate when I speak on the Senate floor.

We do best when we all speak together. We're united by our shared values, our shared ideas, and our shared solutions to the challenges facing every American. That's why I'm asking for your donation to a campaign that will be a voice for all of us:

This November's elections will be a referendum on the failures of the Bush Administration and his rubber-stamp Republican Congress. Democrats are ready to lead, and I pledge to do all I can to fulfill the promise of a government that works for all the people, not just the privileged few.

Thank you so much for being a part of this important effort.

Thank you,

Senator Edward M. Kennedy

2. In a recent thread on DU, Sen. Kennedy's usefulness was questioned
in a thread, wonderng if he should be led out to pasture.

Happily, the thread was answered with resounding endorsements for Ted Kennedy.

Your post is another reason for celebration and cheer.

Ted rocks. He always did.

3. Thank you for sharing. Ted is truly the 'lion of the Senate'
Lately, I've been arguing with DUers who are critical of Kennedy. They repeat many of the anti-Kennedy talking points of the right. It's very disheartening. I'm proud to have Ted as a Senator.

4. "They repeat many of the anti-Kennedy talking points of the right..."
Alas, there are many (paid?) DLC moles with DU accounts who have nothing better to do than to repeat Mehlman's and Rove's talking points. It's quite evident who they are. Take heart, there are many more of "us" than "them".

8. Not in my book. The DLC didn't decide to attack Iraq or wreck the
environment. The DLC isn't suggesting that we open Alaska to oil drilling or that we should ban abortion or gay marriage.
