Political Tone Deaf Pelosi - Someone smarter than I, please tell me...
Why would she give political cover to Hassert over the FBI search of Jefferson's office?

This was one of those times to just stand back and be quiet. Or am I wrong?

1. I don't know what's going on with this anymore.
I just read from Joe Conason in Salon that the FBI *DID* try and subpoena Jefferson's documents but he resisted and that's why they raided. What the hell? I want more information, but the capitol police answer to Hastert... did Jefferson resist a subpoena alone, or did the capitol police participate? I don't get it.

2. Sometimes it shows a great command of the English language to say nothing
at all.

3. I trust Nancy. There's a Constitutional issue at stake- she'd be remiss
if she didn't throw down with bush over this. If she didn't, you can bet that once the issue becomes more fully understood there would be shrieks of "WHERE are the Democrats!!!???"

The GOP in Congress (unlike the dems, usually) have let so much of the swelling exec branch slide that they look -and ARE- horribly hypocritical now. That doesn't mean this isn't another power grab that should be stopped. Pelosi knows that and she's not afraid of taking heat for holding to that conviction.

4. Let me play the Devil's Advocate....
Okay, from what I understand, the FBI was looking for evidence of a crime and went to a judge to get the okay to seize the evidence. Is that it so far?

So I know this next part stretches it a bit, but what if this involved some sort of other crime. For example, let's say DeLay was involved in an affair with Gannon/Guckert and accidentally knocked him off and tried to hide evidence of the crime in his office. Is that too off limits?

What really gets me here is that these politicians are appearing to want to be above the law and who else would seize the evidence other than the FBI?

I just think she should have stayed out of this one and there are other more important power grabs by the Bush Admin that should have been challenged rather than this one.
