Howard Dean's Petition....Asking for 100,000 Signatures to block Hayden.
Some of you may remember the Petition and signed it. I don't know how many signatures he eventually got and I know that I and others are disappointed that our Dems didn't hang together and fillibuster. BUT..here's another way to look at it:

Dean is in a very tight position. He's got Rahm Emmanuel and the Party Insiders (DLC and NeoCon types) on his back constantly. They didn't want Dean to get the job. It was the Dem Party STATE Chairs that got him in because the Dem activists on the Ground were sick to Hell of the "Same Old Losers" running the party. Terry MacAuliffe was a good old boy..."slap 'em on the back" fundraiser. He still appears on the Pundit shows as if "he/not Dean" is the Party Rep.

That said, Dean's petition was a way of his garnering support from the Activist Wing of the party which he can show to Emmanuel and the DLC'ers/Corporatist Cronies that he has a group that supports him and what he's trying to do when they put out articles demeaning him saying he won't give them money to support candidates. Dean stands for the Progressive Dems and he didn't need to put himself on the line against Hayden by sending out that Petition.

Whether you like Dean or not, I think that his strategy of support for the Dems that today voted AGAINST Hayden was a good one if we Progressive/Activists ever hope to have a say in the Democratic Party again. The Party has used the same old hacks for Decades. It's time for a change. I hope he got close to 100,000 signatures but whatever he got, he knows that there are people out here mad as hell about Hayden and that's a good thing.

3. Here's a link to the post with Dean's Petition and also a statement
by Russ Feingold about Hayden's Nomination. I kept kicking the post for days here on DU to get signatures.

It's worth the read...if you are interested in how they both stood up for us Progressive Activists. Dean's Petition was separate from Feingold but I put both statements on the post.

2. Yeah! I agree!
Dean is pretty good for the real kick-those-conservatives-in-the-butt democrats in this country! I love his all-attack mode; its sorely needed!
