DU Now Censoring Immigration Threads
DU is now censoring threads opposing illegal immigration.

Today I went to a thread titled "Fox is running the US now" and had been locked by a moderator named "The Magistrate."

The thread can be found at http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=2646262#2646262

The moderator's final post read

This is flame-bait, and "The Conservative Voice" is not an acceptable source here, nless cited to expose its idiocy.
"

There was no "flaming" going on. The alleged reason for lockdown was because moderator "The Magistrate" decided that the "Conservative Voice" source of information could not be used on DU. Should DU post a list of sources that it will ban, so posters don't run afoul of DU's censorship policies?

I'd hate to post something opposing unrestricted illegal immigration that might get my thread locked. Someone should alert all of us to which topics are not allowed here. I wasn't previously aware that any were not allowed. Apparently I was wrong.

What ever happened to "freedom of speech" and "freedom of the press." DU has now decided it's not going to tolerate certain sources of information. In this case, it's because the source advocated closing the borders, as well as a having the audacity to criticize President Vicente Fox of the U.S., uhhh, no , I mean Mexico.

How can Democrats possibly criticize the NeoCons for suppressing "free speech" and "freedom of the press" when it practices the same intoleration of freedom on it's own site?

The "immigration" issue has brought me several bannings myself, from such sites as Demcorats.com. I guess DU is going to start doing the same thing.

Do Democrats really believe in freedom at all, or just when it is convenient and agrees with their own point of view?

I won't be contributing any more money to DU unless there is a full retraction and the involved thread is unlocked.

If someone advocates freedom, liberty, and tolerance, they'd better be willing to practice it themselves.

Shame on DU for practicing the same intolerant, totalitarian actions that we Democrats criticize in Right-Wingers.
