About a week ago, Ed Schultz had CNN Meterologist Rob Marciano on as a guest (
http://www.cnn.com/CNN/anchors_reporters/marciano.rob.html )
Ed asked him why CNN keeps reporting that "we're in a 20 year cycle" and if that meant that they didn't believe what scientists are reporting on global warming?
Marciano started to sound nervous in the interview..
He kept saying that it's CNN's policy not to take sides on the debate; that some scientists say that the threat is so real that we won't even recognize earth in 50 years.. and that others say "we're just in a cycle we have to wait out"..
Ed said "
But you HAVE to have your own opinion Rob.. so what is it!?!"
His response was "
I saw the film that Al Gore has out and I have to tell you Ed, it scared the hell out of me and I just keep telling myself that I don't want to believe that's happening. But as a CNN Meterologist, I have to listen to both sides and I have to report both sides.. I can't take sides on the issue."
It sounded to me like he couldn't stand talking about the "20 year cycle", but that if he wants his job.. he had no choice. Marciano was sweating bullets because Big Ed was trying to get him to explain how on earth he could not believe something that is actually happening before our eyes.
I haven't read a lot about the Max Mayfield protest and I don't know what his feelings on global warming are.. I agree, he's on-the-ball when it comes to doing his job.
I'd rather Mayfield provide both sides of the issue (like the guy on CNN) than to deny that what we're experiencing is a result of global warming.. (if that's the case?)
But what I'd RATHER have.. is for all of them to tell us what they REALLY and TRULY believe.
