RI Senate Poll: Chafee and Laffey in dead heat
"The Washington-based group, which has endorsed Laffey, said its survey of 300 very likely Republican primary voters showed that Chafee would get 45.7 of the vote if the election ``were held today'' and Laffey, the mayor of Cranston, would get 44.3 percent."

I am not sure if this poll is BS, but if Laffey wins the repub nomination, I think Whitehouse would defeat him in the general election. This is from Rasmussen a few weeks ago...

Lincoln Chafee (R) 44%
Sheldon Whitehouse (D) 41%

Steve Laffey (R) 32%
Sheldon Whitehouse (D) 51%

2. I believe Laffey is more conservative. That's why he would get thumped
in the general election.

3. Laffey is a very conservative guy. He
lies a lot too. We need the seat and I am sorry that Chafee will have to go. Not a bad guy but a repubican if only on paper. Whitehouse is much better.

6. That's a tiny sample.
Three hundred is too small. Of course, it may comprise all the Republicans in Rhode Island.

7. The Ras sample showing Whitehouse beating Laffey is bigger.
Trust me, if Ras predicts a repub is going to lose, they are going to lose.
