Al Gore's popularity is soaring!
He was the toast of Cannes and has been making bold statements lately that are only uttered by true leaders. He's got the respect of the world and he's just what the doctor ordered to restore America's image. If he decided to run, I think he'd blow away the competition. I doubt he will run though, because presidential campaigns are so grueling and he had such a heartbreaking and horrendous experience the first time around. But if he did run, by God, I think he'd win. I get a sense some dems out there are chomping at the bit, waiting with baited breath, hoping he'll go for it. He proved his mettle the first time around, and convinced me he's a true fighter for just and righteous causes. How do you think he'd do if he ran???

Here's your slogan for the '08 presidential campaign, Al; Restoring America's Image

Now go for it!!!

5. I do too. He would change the world with his forward vision...
...and make America great again by nurturing new technologies of all types. If he ran and won the presidency, it would go a long way toward healing me personally, and the nation as a whole.

2. He'd win. Again!
I think he's handling this very wisely too...the world is desperate for a true American leader. He is that leader.

6. What you say is true. He's having his coming out party Sunday on This Week
...with George (can't spell his last name). Do you think this is the first step in him setting himself up for another run? If he announced he was running, it would literally set the world on fire. The press would go completely ballistic and be all over him like a second skin. He'd be a shoe in. Do U agree? What say you on these points

18. I think he is but he's playing hard to get!
Besides, as you said, if he announces the press, etc. will be all over him and Rove will start up with the 'Swiftboat' smear campaign. I think Al's going to play it smart and his way this time and hell yeah I think he will take it, again. He had bad DLC advice the first time in 2000, not to mention, the GOP cheated and the Supreme Court had no business deciding our president! I think the GOP's going to be hurting for the next couple of elections and rightfully so!

Welcome to DU! :hi:

3. I love Al Gore and voted for him
But he made big mistakes. One. He did not utilize Clinton in his campaigning. 2. He became wooden and scripted in his responses and debates. 3. The only heartfelt speech he gave was his concession speech.

4. Yes, but he still won. His victory was stolen from him by Rove.
You make valid points which I agree with, yet despite all his missteps in the past, he is still America's best hope for the future. We desperately need his leadership at this crucial moment in our nation's history. He should give it one more go.

15. Anyone know why Gore didn't make protecting elections a priority and work

for the next four years to fix the Dem election board system after he experienced so much fraud? Seems to me that he would take what he learned in 2000 and work with the Dem party to fix it BEFORE the next election. Election board Dems needed to be trained throughout that period to work against every type of fraud.

Does anyone realize that the Dem party heads from 200 thru 2004 let the Dem infrastructure in crucial states COLLAPSE further instead of strengthening it? They had FOUR YEARS to secure the voting process for Democrats in every county.

heartfelt speech and he was told by his handlers, and particularly the DLC, to tone down his populism.

As another note, his poll numbers soared immediately after that televised speech.

8. I'd like to think as one gets older he gets wiser.
I am skeptical of Gore. First of all. Nothing has destroyed America more than Nafta. Reason I am skeptical. Watching the Neocons on McLaughlin Show. So many neocons had nothing but praise for Gore. My biggest issue, coming from the Rust Belt. Trade and job give away policies of the US government. Must be a reason why the Washington TImes did not dump on Gore.
Trade and international business interests are their biggest concern. Think you on their side on that issue, you will not get dumped on by the press. Just do not trust Gore. He is a headline kind of politician. Recall when he was a Tennessee US Senator. Had all kinds of support for Reagan's Nicaragua policies.
No surprises should you support the likes of a Feingold.

11. Nah, Gore is a nice guy...
...and I would vote for him far sooner the Hillary, but I am more partial to John Kerry and think he would make a better president. In any event, I must say I would see anyone in there who would reverse the slide we are in the middle of to fascism and who would start what is going to be decades of reputation restoration of our country in the eyes of the world.

I also want the Bush crime family investigated and ripped apart. It is not enough to have a good POTUS the next time around, it's time to go to war politically and shed political blood if that is what it takes to excise the cancer we now have in power.

14. How about just "Restore America"?
Image is one thing, substance is another. If you restore the substance, the image will take care of itself.

Tansy Gold, who rarely thinks two words will suffice when one can use eight or ten but this time thinks two is just dandy.
