Californians, vote for DEBRA BOWEN for Sec of State! Critically important!
Please advise all your lists, and family and friends, to vote for DEBRA BOWEN in the California Democratic Primary this Tuesday.

And donate to this effort to put Bowen ads on Spanish radio stations tomorrow:

"Latinos for America has produced (pro-bono) Spanish language radio ads for the Los Angeles market that will run in Spanish talk radio on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

"We need your help to get the ads placed. Whatever you can give will help: Follow the link to 'Valley Grassroots for Democracy'
https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/entity/9271
and make a donation ending in $.06 (for example $50.06 or $500.06 -- whatever you want to give). The $.06 will let Valley Grassroots for Democracy know that your contribution is to go to the Bowen ads in Spanish.

Bowen is is a strong, strong supporter of open government, is very knowledgeable and savvy about electronic voting, and has been aggressively challenging Schwarz appointee Bruce McPherson on his illegal actions on behalf of Diebold (the Bushite election theft corporation). Bowen's opponent Deborah Ortiz doesn't have a clue. She has made frighteningly uninformed statements about it, like "trust, but verify." Trust Diebold? Right.

But Bowen is slightly behind in the pre-election polls with large undecided. What may be happening is that people are simply responding to Ortiz's Hispanic name, in ignorance of the issues in this down-ticket race. That would be tragic! Nothing could be worse for Hispanic voters--and for all of us--than Bowen NOT winning this primary!

Bowen is the one who has been challenging Diebold, from a position of expertise and experience. She is the one we need countering Diebold shill McPherson in the fall! She was endorsed by 80% of the rank and file Democrats at the recent state convention. She is the VERY BEST Secretary of State candidate imaginable.

It's a very, very close race. Turnout will very likely be light. Every vote counts. Every ad counts. Spread the word!

------------------------------

I have been passionately active in the election reform movement since Nov. 3, 2004. I make this VERY STRONG recommendation from a position of detailed knowledge of the issues and the players.

This may be the most important vote you ever cast. We need to restore election integrity and transparency in California. As California goes, so goes the nation.

Our previous Democratic Sec of State, Kevin Shelley--elected in 2002--was driven from office on entirely bogus corruption charges, after he sued Diebold and de-certified the worst of their election theft machines (the touchscreens) prior to the 2004 election. Shelley was a GREAT Sec of State. I believe he was driven from office--by means of Bushite spying, devious plotting and blackmail--BECAUSE he opposed Diebold, whose machines are essential to Bushite election wins. Schwarzenegger then appointed Diebold advocate Bruce McPherson to replace Shelley. McPherson proceeded to illegally re-certify Diebold touchscreens in an atmosphere of secrecy and exclusion of the public.

We are dealing with a whole lot of corruption in the election theft industry. The new electronic voting systems, pushed through and funded ($4 billion!) by a Bushite Congress, are run on "TRADE SECRET," PROPRIETARY programming code, owned and controlled mostly be two, connected corporations--Diebold and ES&S--both with very close ties to the Bush regime and far rightwing causes.

We need a strong counterforce--someone who understands this technology AND the critical importance of a return to TRANSPARENT vote counting. That someone is DEBRA BOWEN--the first state legislator to have a web site and an email address, who has worked very hard to provide government documents on line, for easy public access, and who has held state legislative hearings both on the Diebold/McPherson lawlessness and on the use of OPEN SOURCE CODE in electronic voting systems (instead of corporate "trade secret" vote tabulation!). Open source is also cheaper. The electronic machines are highly insecure, unreliable and hackable--and highly expensive, with high, on-going maintenance costs as well. The rush to purchase these machines--and stuff billions of taxpayer dollars into yet more Bushite corporate pockets--has been foolish and tragic in the extreme. It has, in effect, destroyed our right to vote.

We MUST restore integrity and transparency to our voting system! Having a knowledgeable Secretary of State who is on the side of the public will be a great help to this enormously important struggle to recover our democracy and our country.

We are voting in NON-TRANSPARENT conditions. That is the given. But we CAN beat the machines by our sheer numbers, in some cases, and, long term, by closely monitoring the coming elections for suspicious results, challenging such results, and gathering evidence for removing these secretly programmed voting machines from our election system. My guess: the machines are giving a 5% to 10% advantage to Bushites. That's what we're up against. But we've been up against worse. In the previous century, we were up against the brutal, thieving Railroad Barons. We beat them back, here in California. California has always been a great progressive, public-minded, reform state. We are going to get our country back, starting here. Of that I am sure.

Vote for DEBRA BOWEN! Donate for the ads! Spread the word!

2. Bowen's got my vote. She got a a strong endorsement from a dem
friend who knows her record.

Here's a quote from ortiz:

Quote: "Certainly we have to be vigilant about (electronic voting) security, but why should we turn our back on technology based on hypothetical fraud."

The bit about "hypothetical fraud" alone would be enough for me to vote for bowen!
