Which segment of society has caused divorce up to this point?
We all know that "christian conservatives" who divorce have obviously been influenced by evil external forces to terminate their marriages (in some cases over and over again.) Because we all know that "christian conservatives" could not possibly be personally responsible for anything that would upend the "sanctity of marriage," ergo someone else will have to burn in hell for the failure of said unions. And we all know that homosexuals will be the cause of any future divorces if they are allowed to marry. So just what evil group of citizens has been responsible for the incredibly high divorce rate amongst christian conservatives to date? We need to identify those people soon.

1. Can't answer your question, but do know that the states with the highest
populations of Southern Baptists have the highest divorce rates. Connection there?

8. There is a point to be made about Christian divorce rates
BUT remember that Christians are likely to get married in the first place while the non-Christians are less likely to even get married not, thereby not needing a formal divorce. Basically, the cohabitation rates are going up showing what "appears" to be a reduction in divorces.

6. Sammy, Sammy, Sammy
you could not possibly be trying to place guilt at the altar of rightiousness? Married people responsible for their marriage?? You must be a fucking liberal.

5. Divorce rate isn't as high as alarmists say
Most of the public debate on this question gets premised on the notion that "half of all marriages end in divorce".

This isn't true. One study of a few counties, almost 20 years ago, showed that they issued in one year half as many divorces as marriage certificates. About 1/4 of marriages end in divorce, last I saw (late '90s), and to my knowledge that's not significantly higher than the divorce/anullment rates in bygone times, especially if you account for increased life spans.

Self-identified conservative Christians, though, do have significantly higher divorce rates than the rest of the population. That does bear looking into.

7. Semper Fi and welcome aboard teammate
Gay marriage would have zero effect on any solid marriage. "Conservatives" are scum. And bush needs to ensure that there is not a fair and open investigation of his administration. That is his motivator and that is incredibly pathetic for the leader of the free world to act that way.
