Any early news on Busby?
I heard her retract a mis-statement and am wondering if that faux pas has hurt her?

2. In 2004 Busby lost to Cunningham by over 20% in this very red district
Win or lose, the fact that this race is remotely close is a good sign for dems in the fall.

3. Just Heard The Punditos Say... No Way... But Close
Bilbray to win. She kind of flubbed it and the wrong time. I wonder if her explanation did any good. I understand what she meant, but the way Bilbray jumped on it must have done SOME damage.

I no longer use the word HOPE, haven't for a very long time... guess I'll have to use another four letter word. WAIT!

6. I Won't Get This Correct... Word For Word, But While Making A Speech
she said "you don't have to be registered to help or maybe she even used the word "vote" to a group of Latinos. She acknowledged she had a slip of the tongue and only meant you don't have to be a registered voter to help in her campaign. She stated she was appealing to anyone who wanted to help her win. I can understand the slip, but it sure opened a BIG HOLE IMO!

Bilbray jumped RIGHT on it and basically "redefined it" in HIS words. He managed to get the information out that SHE didn't care if you were registered or not to vote! He knows that's not what she meant, but she opened the door.

8. Yup.. she said "you don't need papers"
And wow.. what unfortunate timing for the Rethugs to jump on that one comment when immigration tops the list in that area.

Ron Reagan said something like "one lousy sentence, and it can change the entire election!?! ..one slip and they they'll end up replacing Duke Cunningham with ANOTHER LOUSY LOBBYIST!!"

Let's just hope they're all wrong..

But in that area.. wow.. it will be TOUGH.

10. Thanks.
I keep seeing people refer to this slip of the tongue all over the board, but didn't know what it was (I'm in Tennessee - hardly keeping up with the little details of the races on the west coast, even though I'm interested in the outcomes).

5. Big Eddie took a call from a sweet Busby supporter a lil while ago and...
...she said some guy in a local delivery truck stopped in her yard, and came out with some sort of instrument (I tuned in late to the show and didn't catch what he used..I think it was a hatchet of some type?)

..but he was destroying her Busby sign; shredding it to pieces.

She ran out and caught the guy in the act and it REALLY startled him. He was freaking out and was worried that she would report him to the cops and his employer.

She told the guy that she didn't plan to report him, but that he should be ashamed of himself -- that he should respect her right to select a candidate just as she would respect his.

Eddie said.. "You're just too sweet, you're such a softie.. and that's okay, that's you.. but I have to tell you, the rest of us want BLOOD!!"

Sad though to think that the idiot would be so angered by her yard sign that he'd so something that idiotic!

her side turned away and said they would vote for Bilbray. They got a jump on it and started spreading the word, VERY quickly!

13. I grew up in this district. People DO want to kill over immigration
issues. I've been warning people for weeks. The Senate Dems screwed up. Bilbray will win because Dems will vote for him. It won't be because she said the wrong thing either.

14. So the polls showing it neck-and-neck have been wrong?
I mean.. if Democrats are even voting for the lobbyist Republican, it's surprising the polls are basically tied..

Are the polls THAT far off?

21. as I understand it, it's a republican district
Busby has (had?) a chance because of republican crossover/apathy/scandal fatigue.

23. Busby only had a chance if she went against amnesty.
It's a border district. People are not conservative as much as they're "immigration weary". They're also sick of high housing costs. Look how expensive 3 bedrooms houses are in Imperial Beach. Illegal immigration causes HIGH housing costs. A half of million dollars for an average house. People are sick of it.

24. Jessep: You want answers?
Kaffee: I think I'm entitled to them.
Jessep: You want answers?
Kaffee: I want the truth!
Jessep: You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has walls. And those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives...You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall.
We use words like honor, code, loyalty...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!
Kaffee: Did you order the code red?
Jessep: (quietly) I did the job you sent me to do.
Kaffee: Did you order the code red?
Jessep: You're goddamn right I did!!

18. Thanks for posting that.
I live in the district (and voted absentee last week), but hadn't seen the video before. It's a shame she said that. Until I heard about that quote, I felt sure she was going to win. Now I'm not so sure. It seems like the kind of thing that would really rally the other side.

20. Thanks For The Video...
I knew I didn't get it completely correct, just the gist of it. But my gist was enough I suppose.

A slip of the tongue, and I do think it truly was... but you just can't do that against these heathens!

All we can do is wait, I wonder if it really is as close as they say... I live in FL and don't really know, just try to follow this stuff and since we don't have much going on here, it was one to watch.

At any rate if HE wins, he will only have a short time to make any head-way.
