Pics and notes from the DFA-MoveOn rally for Lamont today.

"More than 400 people are spilling out of the room here at the Omni Hotel, and the shouts of "We want Ned!" can be heard all the way down in the lobby. "We want a senator, not a messenger, and that senator will be Ned Lamont!" said Jim Dean. I talked to Sarah Connolly who made her own sign for the rally which read "No Mo' Joe, and Eric, who decided to support Ned after seeing only one ad on tv. Even 2 month old Maximo believes that Ned Lamont should be Connecticut's next senator. Only a few more minutes til Ned comes out!"

Youngest supporter today.

"That's how Ned ended his speech, but his supporters weren't ready to let him leave. "We want Ned!" the shouts continued. Ned was very upbeat about what he called, "A true grassroots campaign," and the crowd definitely agreed. He talked about how far the campaign come from a few weeks ago—from row ZZ at the nominating convention to a huge crowd of progressive supporters today. He's ready to represent Americans, he said, ready to guarantee healthcare for everyone, clean affordable energy, and better schools. "It's time for Democrats to step up and start talking about the common good." Ned Lamont is going to lead that debate in the Senate."

1. What a wonderful write-up in the New Haven Independent.

"The Internet drew hundreds of new faces to New Haven's Omni Hotel Thursday for a raucous rally for Ned Lamont's surging U.S. Senate campaign. Surprise: the biggest group of Internet-savvy ralliers had grey or white hair, like 85 year-old Estelle Davis, who spends two hours a night on the web."

Great pictures, one good one of Eli Pariser of MoveOn.
