Under pressure, Ney lashes out at press coverage (blackberry hissy fit)
http://www.timesreporter.com/index.php?ID=54956&r=2

WASHINGTON – Rep. Bob Ney, under enormous political and legal pressure for more than a year, has lashed out against press coverage of his plight, voicing great displeasure over stories focusing on the controversial golfing trip to Scotland that threatens his grip on the congressional seat he has held for six terms.

(snip)
In two rambling e-mails sent from his Blackberry device to Copley News Service reporter Paul Krawzak, the Republican congressman from Ohio ridiculed the veteran reporter, challenging his ethics and mocking the 5-foot-7-inch Krawzak as “big man.”

(snip)
“Let me tell you paul-last week you did not call us for comment ‘you were under deadline,’” began Ney, who then reflected his belief that his critics just keep recycling the same story about the golf trip. “Print the same story-change it to reprint the same story-people in new philly – d’s and r’s call it ‘elk’s politics.’”

(snip)
Lest there be any doubt about either his anger or his desire to vent that anger, the congressman sent a separate note from his Blackberry later in the day. “Please-please-print this paul-you don’t care about ohio-i am sick of your crap. You are a d c person who couldn’t find ohio unless we gave you a map. You don’t give two shoots about our people.”

2. Wow is right
Did someone steal Ney's blackberry? This doesn't sound like a Member of Congress in command of his senses. Ahhh, maybe that's the point. Has he lost his mind???

3. It just amuses the hell out of me

that Repukes get all scrubbed up and put on their squeaky clean preacher hairdos and strut around like they're all High Priests and their assholes have never, ever, for a moment stunk even the tiniest bit, and that if you elect them they will pray night and day in their offices to Gawd Almighty who will hear them because they are, well, just civilized, ordered, CLEAN, decent souls.

And of course, liberals are "savage" and "undisciplined" and "lacking moral guidance."

But when you search for any decent fruit from those sterile, pristine Republican trees, there ain't none. Just bloody, maimed, dead fruit. The fruits of insult and bullying. The fruits of deception and gluttony and self-justification.

To be "moral" you must have a sense of right and wrong. To be decent, you must do what is in the best interest of all you impact, not just do what is in your own best interest. To be "spiritually pure" you must not be a liar or a person who threatens and demeans others.

So why do fools like Ney convince voters that they are The Chosen Ones of The Assholes-Who-Smell-Like-Rose-Petals Tribe?

Especially when THEY STINK so badly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:wtf:

Bob Ney: The Crack-up Begins?
By Justin Rood - June 9, 2006, 8:40 AM
If you're wondering how Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH) is holding up under the pressure of a federal investigation into his dealings with Jack Abramoff -- and the media scrutiny it has invited -- I think we have an answer: Not well.

Paul Krawzak is a DC reporter for the Copley newspaper chain, which has a number of papers in Ohio. Krawzak has been covering the Safavian trial, which is where I met him. Apparently, his reporting -- particularly about the details of Ney's time in Scotland with Abramoff -- got under the troubled lawmaker's skin, according to a piece written by Krawzak's boss, George E. Condon Jr., Copley's D.C. bureau chief. So much so, in fact, that Ney sent Krawzak angry emails, and dared him to print them.

5. He's a bully; he can't take it when someone shows him up
I've watched him belittle any one who questions him for years. Right now he's running scared because people aren't backing down when he speaks. The typical kindergartener would go off bawling at this point. A public breakdown would not surprise me. Put him in the same basket as bully Bush and ship them out. Thanks for that link, Avenger.

7. Yep! Take a lesson, guys! Classic case of "they can dish it out but
they can't take it."

To beat a bully, you have to shove it back in their faces. Or, up their asses. Either way, with or without enema. Whichever orifice you choose, it will be well deserved.

We need them ALL running scared because they can't intimidate anybody anymore, and they don't get a free pass anymore without any questioning or accountability. Besides, they're much more likely to make mistakes we can exploit publicly, if they reach this point.

6. "got under the troubled lawmaker's skin"
Now, if the rest of the media would do the same, maybe a few more of these goooper assholes would self-destruct.

Apparently Paul Krawzak is actually doing a reporter's job. Good on him!

NEY’S RANT

Regarding Congressman Bob Ney’s rant about Copley Washington and Columbus reporting, which you may have read in Friday’s paper, I say it’s too bad he doesn’t like the attention he is getting. He is the subject of national scrutiny because of his friendships with people such as Jack Abramoff who are pleading guilty left and right in the congressional lobbying scandal.

As for Copley’s sending a reporter to Ney’s hometown to interview neighbors or see what kind of house he lives in, we have no apologies for that.

And as for covering a trial last week in which his name and his golf trip to St. Andrews, Scotland, with Abramoff came up, no apologies for that, either. Not only were we interested because of Ney’s connections, we also were interested because the person on trial, David Safavian, was once the chief of staff for Canton’s Stephen A. Perry when he was director of the General Services Administration. Perry is now in charge of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Ney’s mocking of reporter Paul Krawzak’s 5-foot-7-inch height was undignified. As for not contacting Ney late one night to comment about trial testimony, we acknowledge that comment from Ney would have been enriching. But it was not necessary. Krawzak’s main function was to cover the trial and report the testimony under oath, not give Ney a chance to rebut.

However, that won’t be a problem anymore. Now that Ney used his BlackBerry phone and e-mail device to complain to Krawzak, our Washington reporter can use the e-mail address that came with the message to contact Ney through his BlackBerry, no matter the hour or the day.

9. Oh my!
They called Mister Congressman on his petulant behavior.

I wanted to start a thread on the new, Canadian, owners of the Beacon Journal. Unfortunately, the Ohio forum has--how shall I say--lost its direction and nobody goes there. Whadda ya think?

10. Go for it.
I find it amusing that "those who wish to see members banned from the Ohio forum" seek out the posts of the banned in other forums and respond to them. The banned are doing an excellent joy of maintaining their civility.

We have issues to discuss and no longer have the resources we need for civil discussions. It does not bode well for democrats in Ohio.

11. Glad you're amused.
I just counted five threads (in the last 24 hours) by "the banned" to which none of those of whom you speak responded. Hardly seeking them out.

Are we not permitted to respond to posts by "the banned" in other forums?

There was some heated debate in a Paul Hackett thread; more muckraking on the part of the person who started the thread and then an accusation by one of "the banned" that Mr. Hackett would make millions from a lawsuit in which he's a plaintiff. Totally untrue. A falsehood that needed to be corrected.

Since Mr. Hackett is from Ohio I felt perfectly in line by responding. You must have gotten a belly laugh out of that.

What exactly are those "resources" for civil discussions that are so badly needed? And why can't we have civil discussions in the Ohio forum?

Never mind. You and I are like night and day on this issue and further debate is futile.

13. Who got banned?
DU does not provide a formal list of "The banned".

I did see the threads you are speaking about where there were many comments by the likes of Ann Coulter want-a-be's.....they actually made a terrific copy of her style.

12. Have a look at the Ohio forum archives
and see which threads got the most response. The Hackett threads. Since he's no longer a candidate we should see fewer and fewer threads about him.

The Ohio forum is today similar to what it was pre-Paul. If you feel it's lost its direction and no one goes there anymore, maybe you can liven it up a bit?

But probably not with a thread about the new owners of the Akron newspaper; boring.

And based on previous threads, no one cares about Bob Ney; he's guilty and he's boring.

Let's see . . . which issues are exciting and need debate? Which candidates? Hmm. . .
