3. I voted for Denver. We need to station ourselves out west for a week or
so and get the message out loud and clear across the plains and mountains.

Other cities would be good also, but the freshness of a Front Range convention has a real zing.

22. Hey there, karynnj. Nice to bump into you again on these boards,
and especially about a possible Denver convention site. I'm not tethered to Denver or anything, but if it happened in Denver, a certain native Coloradan, as you aptly suggest, would be a perfect fit.

I could definitely see it.

8. Colorado can turn blue soon. I think they'll elect Ritter(D) as gov in 06
That's why I say Denver.

When I think of NO and democrats, I think of Nagin and Blanco, which isn't good.

11. But on a FEDERAL level
It reminds people of the Republican 'cost saving' and 'blame everyone else' plan.

13. While I agree, I think MSM and the GOP will seize the opportunity
to connect NO failures to dems like Blanco and Nagin. I won't be surprised if Blanco gets voted out of office.

9. Denver would be a powerful symbol of the Dems comeback. . .
especially in the Mountain West states.

12. My heart says New Orleans...
but my head says Denver. Dems are poised to claim western states like Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada and perhaps even Arizona, so let's take the party to their bandbox. In the end, New Orleans will benefit more from repeated tourist visits and multiple conventions (I believe this year's DNC convention was there) rather than a one-time symbolic event.

14. Anyplace but NYC
Please, we need to get out of the east coast mentality and appeal to people in middle American. The other three cities look fine. I like Minneapolis because of my midwestern bias and affection for Paul Wellstone. Maybe holding the convention there will remind people what a principled Democrat is like.

15. I voted Minneapolis
Maybe I am biased because I live in the Twin Cities area, but this is the state that has a record of being blue longer than any state in the nation yet the Republicans are trying to turn it red and are coming closer than I would like.

Denver would also be a good choice however, as I think there is a good chance at turning states like Colorado and Montana blue in future elections.

I worry New Orleans would make it appear as if they were exploiting tragedy, much like the Repukes did in New York. Although it is true that New Orleans could really use the money the convention would bring.

18. Denver
It would just be cool.

Plus, we should hold the convention out west. That's where the future of the democratic party lies, it seems.

21. It may come down to $'s spent wooing the DNC
Minneapolis has reportedly spent $41 million on the pitch.

That's common.
