Poll: Most still think Iraq war a mistake
Number of Americans optimistic inches up after al-Zarqawi death

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- More Americans expressed optimism about the war in Iraq after the killing of terrorist mastermind Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, suggests a CNN poll released Monday, but a majority still believes the invasion was a mistake.

The poll found 43 percent of respondents said the war is going either very or moderately well, up from 38 percent in a March poll.

Fifty-four percent said they still believe the war is going either very badly or moderately badly, down from 60 percent in March.

And 55 percent said they believe the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 was an error -- a figure unchanged from an April survey. (Poll results -- PDF) The survey of 1,031 adults was taken Thursday through Sunday by Opinion Research Corp. for CNN. The poll's sampling error was plus or minus 3 percentage points.

1. Until all of those ambitious young al-Qaeda looking to make their
mark up the ante amongst their competitors to see who steps into Z's shoes.

Egypt especially will have many potential candidates for the job.

2. They asked Junior about a-Z's "successor" today...
...he said "Well...uh...that person goes on our list of people we're AFTER."

And I'm thinking Osama's on that list, so a-Z's protege has nothing to worry about.

I don;t have a link...it was a clip on MSNBC that I'm sure will be shown over and over.

4. It's not just one person.
Think of an opening for a really "good job" , or one that many people would desire anyway. Is there EVER only one candidate? Not unless it's the president of the U.S.

There are many candidates for Z's job. All looking to establish their bona fides.

My poor nephew in the Delta Force will never come home again.

3. $9 billion a month
along with rising gas prices, rising inflation and a sinking economy.

No one is likely to change their mind on this any time soon. IMHO the door is closed on the days of high approval ratings for the war in Iraq.

5. Wait until he gets killed again! More poll number improvements!
He should probably die again around Christmas...people will have forgotten by then.

6. And enlistments? How's that going?
And a 'free market' for oil? Yeah, things are improving ... the glass is one tenth full not 90% empty.
