John Edwards/Class Warfare Fight
John Edwards/Class Warfare Fight

Class conflict is nothing new, however, John Edwards is champion a fight so that those who are not on the top of the payrolls get a chance to make up ground. The middle class takes the largest hit on the social relationship among the classes. The middle class has no one to speak for them in either party. Edwards attempts to shine a light on the fact that the middle class is suffering for the lack of influence from those in Congress and the White House. The upper class has the most influence but the middle class has the most numbers.

Edwards has offered up tax credits to help families afford health care, including tax credits for small business; a tax credit to make 4 years of college affordable to all Americans that can attend. Middle class working families are propelling our economy. It seems illogical to restrain long-term economic growth by not focusing on the middle class economy. John Edwards is the only potential candidate that speaks in this language. Others do not address the class conflict nor do they offer really any real solutions.

2. I'm not seeing it as one candidate as opposed to all others so much
Edited on Wed Jun-14-06 10:08 PM by Old Crusoe
as I am willing to praise John Edwards for taking on the question of poverty and hopelessness of the unheard American in an era when that cheap little monster in the White House is handing out tax cuts to the very wealthy hand over foot. If that isn't a contrast in priorities and styles and substance, I don't know what is.

I think it's a damned admirable hinge to base a presidential campaign on, too, and if you throw in John Edwards' considerable personable appeal, you get results akin to the Des Moines REGISTER poll this past Sunday, showing him leading the pack.

He's a good man.

3. Every Democratic candidate there is
has proposed the types of things listed here. Kerry's health care proposal in 2004 was routinely praised as the best one offered and he has been instrumental in poposing and getting small business programs, such as micro loans and special assistance to women and minorities, in his 21 years on the Small Business committee.

It is good that Edwards is for these things, but they are the type of programs that define all Democrats.

5. Thanks! I agree that this is not "uniquely" a John Edwards issue...
Poverty, that is.

Additionally, I'm not sure "what" Edwards has done that surpasses others in the area, apart from making it "his" issue by having a "center"......although, it really isn't just "his" issue.

But good for him (as well as for others) to be "concerned" about this.

4. The upper class owns the voting machines.
They even take them home on election night. Sorry I'm just in a pessimistic mood tonight.

7. I don't blame you. I've today been wondering what's the point if the Dems
don't give a damn about flagrant violations of voting machine security. It's not just San Diego county, but it was SO flagrant in SD county. And not a peep from the Democratic party or candidates. No election results from San Diego county are valid.

We don't stand a chance in ANY election if we're allowing Republicans an open field for tampering with voting machines.

Individual citizens (and not just CA residents) can file complaints with the CA Sec of state

6. F#cking A!!!! I've been spouting off about Populism for the past
couple of weeks.

Johnny being a rich lawyer (I know, humble beginings) kind of undermines his positions.

But I think this is the issue... its THE ISSUE to get 'Murkah riled up.

Maybe riled up enough to get percentages that will make stealing another elections impossible for the Rethugs.
