Unofficial Coulter / Carlin / Leno thread
After the commercial break, Ann Coulter will be on The Tonight Show.

One would expect that she'll be toned down and that Leno won't go after her like Matt Lauer did, or that she'll at least be better prepared.

Maybe George Carlin, who's already on the couch, will pipe in with something good.

We'll see....

43. Hard to believe, but he was once a very good standup
NBC put him on a program to mainstream him, and he gave up his gift.

He was never edgy, but he just killed live. Super quick-witted with the audience.

And now it's just rehashes of ancient Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton jokes. Sad, really, but it pays well.

He's got a very old-school attitude that a comedian's job is to make people have a good time. Not a theater of cruelty guy (unless subjecting us to Coulter counts).

He's said many times that he didn't want to be one of those smartass comics that makes his audience feel stupid.

What we cool cats think is smarmy and lame, he considers being a courteous servant of his audience.

They've got a whole big spiel that people believe about the demon liberal media, etc. It's good if mainstream audiences learn how fucked up these people are. Matt Lauer did a good job. Leno didn't, though any sane, decent person would have found her quite revolting tonight.

This is the first time I've ever watched Ann Coulter and she is definitely full of herself. You know, if she wasn't so ugly on the inside, she might be considered attractive, but the minute she opens her mouth you realize just how much hate she carries around with her.

49. I watched ann when Carlin said he'd stay
because I was SURE he would say something. Like you I noticed his disgusted look...and was so sure he'd make some comment, some cut. Even if he just stood up and said "I can't take this" and walked off I'd have been glad.

He was right there next to her...and stayed there and didn't speak up. Ugh. It would have been better if he hadn't stayed out there when she came on then. I don't know etiquette in this but sitting silently is too close to support for my comfort. Wish I hadn't seen it.
