Did the Repubs pull their "October Surprise" too early ??
Obviously, this whole trip to Iraq has been planned for some time. Most likely, the demise of Zarqawi was also probably planned to coincide with the US elections. With Bush's polls almost as low as whale shit, they decided to make their move now. The Republicans in the House were panicking. It did not look good. So their plan is to win one more election with the "war on terror" issue. They will say that they are "winning" the war in Iraq - whether they are or not doesn't matter. They have covered all the bases. They have said they expect more violence. There will be no peace. But they will say they are winning.

But, perhaps they have played their October Surprise a little early. After all, many unpredictable things can happen in 5 months and they probably will. The Repubs will do their damnedest to spin whatever happens but they have made their move.

1. Yup. That's what I'm thinking.
They had, really, just a couple of chips to cash in, and they went ahead and did it in June.

Still a loooooong time before the election.

2. I'll actually be impressed if they legitimately keep up the "good news"
in Iraq over the summer. And I mean legitimately.

7. Nah, the October surprise is probably Usama.
Most likely he's in a cage at Gitmo waiting to be captured.

8. I was thinking this just last night...
they could have "peaked" early. But, then I thought of these oily slimebags and thought what if this wasn't the best thing they had up their sleeves and October brings something worse? The b*stards ar great at this sh*t. My mind thinks this could be a hand over-played, but my heart says, they have something else planned.

I actually hope I'm wrong!

Nice OP, kentuck.

9. No, I think October is too late. That's not enough time for the news to
settle into people's heads. The start of the summer is the beginning of the political campaign. Rove knows what he's doing. :grr:

10. Today is going to be the biggest waste of time in history
This whole thing clearly illustrates that there is no policy apparatus there is only politics and the dumber the better it sells. If this thing wasn't written by the RW radio dunderheads it clearly was written FOR them.

This country is at an all time low today.
