Coulter gets lovingly stroked, Olbermann gets burned at the stake.
Must be the "Liberal Media" at it again. Seems like maybe the New York Daily News has an issue with Mr. O?

http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/426803p-360015c.html

He was forced to apologize yesterday after more of his E-mails found their way to my inbox and exposed the host of MSNBC's "Countdown With Keith Olbermann" as insulting and frequently obscene in an acrimonious exchange with two viewers who taunted him. Olbermann's antagonists, who asked not to be named, repeatedly claimed in their June 8 E-mails that dead Al Qaeda terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was Olbermann's "hero," prompting the television star to advise: "Hey, save the oxygen for somebody whose brain can use it. Kill yourself."

After I forwarded that and other E-mails to an MSNBC exec, Olbermann wrote: "I apologize to anyone who might take offense at my part of this correspondence. It goes without saying that I should not have replied to these abusive and hateful E-mails, but I wonder how many of us could receive literally hundreds of them questioning our patriotism, religion and ethnic origin, without succumbing to the natural wish to confront such hate?"

Here are some examples of Olbermann "confronting hate":

# "Given how far you are from knowing your a- from your elbow about my industry, you couldn't be stupider, wronger, or dumber ..."

# "Go - your mother."

# "You 'Americans' still watching that evil f- O'Reilly?"

Apparently, they are. Fox News' Bill O'Reilly draws six times the viewership of his 8 p.m. weekday rival. MSNBC declined to comment yesterday, but Olbermann is scheduled to return to work on Monday.

4. Notice how I sensed that? Vendettas are easily spotted.
That "article" just reeks of a hit piece. I don't know much about the N.Y.D.N., but that reporter needs to understand one thing. Coulter's remarks were put out for public consumption. Olbermann's (if they are in fact authentic) were sent in a private e-mail in response to a couple of idiots who were attacking him.

There IS a difference.

5. May I make a constructive suggestion?

Send that dipshit Grove a POLITE email, and ask him why he made this a news item, why he is protecting the identities of the complainers, and not posting THEIR invective in his column, and in essence, only covering one side of the story.

If these clowns want to whine about Olbermann, they should put their names, their emails and their agendas out there. His covering only half the story makes it more than clear that HE has an agenda, as well. Of course, we know that already about the hapless, fawning turd, but it never hurts to remind him.

His address: lgrove@edit.nydailynews.com <lgrove@edit.nydailynews.com>

6. Exactly. Identify the attackers!
They should not be allowed to hide behind anonymity. Let's see their names. Hell, let's see their EMAIL ADDRESSES!

But like every other Puke, they'll hide in the shadows. Fucking cowards.

8. Olbermann's mistake
was apologizing. Coulter never apologizes, O'Reilly never apologizes. Maybe liberals should take a page from their play book and adopt the same attitude.

So what? Keith got lippy with a twit who was insulting him. BFD. Why be sorry about that?

Never, ever say you're sorry. Ever. It immediately puts you on the defensinve and the other guy automatically wins.

9. That's true.
I wonder how Bush felt about apologizing to the reporter with the sunglasses. This was one time where the Boy King's big mouth painted him into a corner, and there was only one way out.

11. That situation merited
an apology and I think Bush was actually sorry for what he said. Probably was one of the only times in his life he may have been embarrassed about putting his foot in his mouth.

Olbermann didn't need to apologize. It was a private interchange that was made public out of nastiness. He was just responding to a bunch of crap with a bit of his own hyperbole.

Compared to the crap that comes out of Coulter and Rush, it was nothing.

14. Nonsense.
Coulter's been slammed six ways from Sunday for her comments. Even wing nut types have slammed her. Please tell me where in the MSM she's been "lovingly stroked". Way to go, making things up.

16. Good for Olberman. Wonder about Human Torch's motives in this post.
Edited on Thu Jun-15-06 06:50 PM by McCamy Taylor
Olberman sounds like a typical NYer having a typical argument via email. Since I'm a typical Texan, NYers scare me not one whit.

The post by Human Torch would have been more convincing if he had let the DU readers go to the link and read all the info for themselves rather than posting quotes which some people from other parts of the country might find disrturbing or inflammatory when taken out of context. And what is the reference to Coulter about? If I didnt know better I would say it is just there to get the attention of DUers.

Dear Human Torch, if your intention is to defend Olberman, you can edit your thread header so that it does a better job of this. Just a suggestion.

Agree that I would love to read the stuff he was replying to. For instance, if he is replying to obscenities with obscenties then there is no problem. That is socially correct in this era for his generation.
