Promising more death and chaos to get votes??

No doubt, republicans will stay in iraq until every Soldiers dies because that's what their base wants. It is rather telling that they thump their chests and promise more bloodshed and endless spending in Iraq to get people to vote for them. The base of the republican party is either much worse off then I thought or the party "leadership" has gravely miscalculated.

They've painted themselves into a corner by making a promise they can't deliver: Make America safer from terrorism and protect our freedoms by fighting a war in Iraq.

They can try and spin it around different ways, i.e. we're bring Democracy to the Iraqis, blah blah blah, but most Americans remember the original bargain, and the vast majority of the soldiers over there I'm sure believe in that premise as well.

But it's just a house of cards based on lies. It will eventually fall down, and the Republicans are desperately hoping at this point that they can hang onto it until November.
