Specter panders: Slams Kerry,/Reid/Dems, defends magic bullet
* On the Democrats' conduct during hearings for judicial nominees, Specter was close to scathing. "Schumer was absolutely rude to Alito." Filibusters "lost them Daschle and lost them a fair number of seats."

* On various Democrats: Minority Leader Reid, in various comments discussed at the dinner, "is not a deep thinker, to put it gently." Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry "didn't have any substance or any backbone." In 20 years, Kerry has "a remarkably vacuous record."....."He's like a high school orator."
.....
* FINALLY, THE ONE we've all been waiting for... on the "single bullet theory"of the first bullet in the JFK assassination: "Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. It has stood the test of time" and of numerous re-examinations and documentaries.

and illegal wars in Central America.

And let's throw in the book Kerry wrote in 1996 that WARNED of the growing threat of global terrorism and how to cut off the funding they were getting through international financial networks.

What did YOU do Arlen? BLOCK Kerry's work exposing terror networks along with the other Bush loyalists? YOU and BushInc were PROTECTING The very terror networks Kerry was working to expose and warn us about.

5. BLM, that's not fair to Spector,
terrorism wasn't the big thread in the 1990s, everyone knows the President's marital fidelity was. You couldn't expect anyone to pay attention to Kerry's warnings. :sarcasm:

8. His aide didn't even understand what the word VACUOUS meant.
Specter deserves more than just my phonecall.

2. He's right on the wrongly-named "Magic Bullet," but otherwise he can
do something pornographic with a high-powered nail gun, for all I care.

3. I didn't see Spector's party honor him with a Presidential nomination
I also don't see any of his speeches mentioned in history books. If Kerry genuinely had no substance or backbone would Spector even bother slamming him - or is it because he has been standing up to Bush.

9. Dear Senator,
Until today, I kept holding out hope that Pennsylvania had at least one marginally rational Senator. I am convinced that it's time now to give up that hope until Mr. Casey joins the Senate in November. My one comfort in this is that, unlike the Republicans in Congress, at least I can admit my mistakes.
A Bush appeaser like you should be ashamed to talk about a co- worker 's 'backbone'. Sure, you talk a good game, but in the end, you fold like a cheap suit and play along with whatever 'the decider' and his minions decide they want from you.
Do you not realize you're supposed to represent Pennsylvanian's wishes, not George Bush's? This Republican congress is weak, petty and useless and you're no better than the rest of the lemings on your side of the aisle. You're a waste of my tax dollars. I can't wait until the day Santorum packs up his office, and I'll be counting the minutes until you follow him out the door.

12. Great letter
Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 07:25 PM by karynnj
What possessed him to do this? It seems seriously unlike the Senate norm - Kerry sits on committees with some seriously vacuous Republicans - Allen, Burns and Coleman, for example. I just can't picture Kerry issuing statements like these. I doubt Reid would either.

The rest of the comments are no better. I've seen him speak. He flatters himself if he thinks he anywhere near the speaker Kerry is - his other comment is "Kerry at the podium is dullsville". The TBA crowd didn't seem to think so, nor the huge crowds in 2004.

13. Anyone who was at the TBA conference
would know better than to say "Kerry" and "dull" in the same sentence. He had the crowd on our feet over and over again. I wish I had counted. And he was mobbed afterward.
There was no comparison between the crowd reactions to Kerry and Hillary, or any of the other speakers. He owned the room.
Specter, OTOH, is an ass. I'm glad I sent the letter. I expect to get a stupid form letter in response.

My favorite pic from the TBA

10. didn't some whore magazine name him one of the top 10 Senators
does he think the Chimp is the deep thinker ? does he think the CHimp has substance and backbone ?

is the single bullet theory a result of being a deep thinker or having backbone and substance ?

11. I'm quite jealous of his agressive, blunt manner against his opponents.
Democrats should take note from Arlen and stop acting like wimps.

Wouldnt it be great if our own Democrats said "Bush is not a very deep thinker" and "has no back-bone."

I would LOVE to see a DEM make agressive but truthful statements about Republicans in the same manner that Arlen makes agressive but false statements about us.

14. It's hard to put 'Bush' and 'Thinker' in the same sentence Doc
The keyboard doth revolt. If * ever met a thought he quickly wrestled it into submission and then left all tied up on the back porch of his vacuous mind to die a slow and painful death.

15. You're giving Specter too much credit - he said this to a closed audience
and I doubt he meant it to be repeated in a public forum. You think he would say this publically or to Kerry's face?

I do get your overall point.
