My DD/BlogPac Releases Results of Netroots Survey
Chris Bowers of MyDD Releases Netroots Survey.

From My DD site:

"Since we wanted to conduct a survey of the entire progressive netroots and not just Dean activists, we instead set our sights on sampling from the largest progressive political email list of all: MoveOn.org's. With three and a half million emails, MoveOn.org is easily the largest email list within the universe of the progressive netroots, and can be understood as a solid, representative sample of the progressive netroots as a whole. We did approach other, smaller lists to try and create a combined survey, but in the end only MoveOn.org was willing to participate. While this means that we were unable to sample form the entire universe of the progressive netroots, I still feel confident that our results are the best public information to date on the progressive netroots as a whole."

1936 individuals participated during June 6-9, with a sample error of 2.2+

Good information on what the progressives are seeing in terms of leadership within the Dem party, including what they need to improve on, who in elective office inspires them, and most favored potential Presidential candidate.

On the latter, here are the top contenders, as progressives' favorites:

1. I'd love to see a SERIOUS rundown of all the potential candidates and the
issues and the battles they chose to take on while in office. Facts only - no rhetoric allowed. I wonder how that would turn out.

2. Why no Kucinich?
He came in second place after Dean in the MoveOn candidate endorsement vote in '03. That should at least merit inclusion in the poll.

3. Edwards-Feingold '08
Imagine a populist/progressive ticket that could actually compete in the South and Midwest.

I think seeing Edwards at the top is significant. He's viewed by some as more moderate, but apparently MoveOn people know he isn't a conservative. Its rare for anyone to be able to appeal to people across the political spectrum so well. Very rare.
