Antonin Scalia is typical of what's wrong with America
Regarding the Supreme Court decision yesterday on police entry:

Scalia responded that victims of such an unlawful entry could sue the city and the police for violating their rights. He also pointed to the "increasing professionalism of police forces, including a new emphasis on internal police discipline."

How out of touch is this man? And he's sitting on the SCOTUS making decisions that will affect us for the rest of our lives. Does he have any idea how much it costs to initiate a law suit these days? People can barely afford to fill up their cars, and they CAN'T afford health insurance, so how in the hell can they afford to hire a lawyer and pay court fees?

Plus they have to repair their property, which was damaged during entry.

And as for the level of professionalism and discipline in today's police forces, if the members of Congress, the Executive Branch, and the Judicial Branch are setting the example on this, we're all in pretty bad shape. All I see is cronyism, lying, discrimination, violations of the Constitution, etc.

Who is setting the standards in America today?

1. This issue will be revisted
after a whole bunch of cops get shot when they enter private homes before identifying themselves. Then "conservatives" will bring out their customary "oops." And no doubt, it was all Clinton's fault.

4. The cops wear body armor...
It's more likely that the "sue-er" will not be alive to bring the suit.

More, OOPS! is right.

2. Typical 'Lican approach . . .
(Even though SC justices are supposed to swear off partisanship upon elevation to the highest court)

If the facts don't favor your position, just make some up -- no one will call you on it. And say it enough times and it magically becomes the truth.

3. Of the rich, by the rich, and for the rich
We are parasites, doncha know? If we'd all just go away, they'd own everything and peace would reign throughout the land. There wouldn't be any need for police, doncha know, if the rich weren't so afraid poor people would get their acts together and start sacking their pleasure palaces instead of knocking over the corner liquor store.

Until then, we deserve all the oppression we get for making the holy rich afraid.

6. What emphasis on internal discipline
The emphasis is on justifying the use of deadly force in any situation where the perp doesn't fall onto the ground, on his stomach and put his hand behind his back for the cuffs. We have had several police shootings of teenagers and young adults for behaving like they wanted suicide by police. They were shamelessly obliged.
