MI Gov. Ras poll: Granholm (D) 44%, Dick "scAmway" DeVos (R) 42%
Jennifer Granholm (D) 44%
Dick DeVos (R) 42%

"Democratic Governor Jennifer Granholm now leads Republican Dick DeVos 44% to 42%. This is the fourth straight Rasmussen Reports election poll of the race showing Granholm at 44%."

"In fact, Granholm has not yet punctured the 50% level of support below which incumbents are considered vulnerable."

2. He's an asshole. Anyone who has lived in MI. as long as I have
know that this bunch are ONLY generous when there is something in it for them. In this case, its a jump from governor and then POTUS. Scramway, Scamway.

3. Worse he is in line to inherit the Amway fortune and guess who is
Devos's major contributer? Amway of course. You remember Amway, the great pyramid scam of the 70's and 80's? Well they are back with a new tactic.

4. This race isn't "really" that close
Bush will bring down Republican candidates in the blue states very badly. DeVos has been saturating the airwaves with ads, while Granholm has been husbanding her money for the campaign; she does not have the kind of money that DeVos has. Once she goes on the air, she will pull away and DeVos will be depicted as a Bush stooge.

I will be moving to Michigan in 6 weeks and I will be registering to vote ASAP. That poll is not including me.

5. Don't count him out
I grew up in west MI and I can tell you it is mighty red there. It is one of the main reasons we moved out to NY. Remember, these are the same people who elected John Engler, who devastated the state during his term.

6. Hopefully...
When Granholm starts pumping her ads (seen only one so far) the gap will increase. Because so far, DeVos is flooding the airways with some impressive ads. And obviously its working. I'll do my part to try to help Granholm win this one.

7. I am hoping Granholm will win again...
though here on the West side of the state she is not very well liked. I know that come election day I am voting for Granholm again. I don't care that they say that she isn't doing anything for the job and economy. Hell how can she when she's got a bunch of Repukes and Shrunkbrain &Co. ruining it.

8. I'm not in Michigan, and I don't know a ton about Granholm..........
But this is downright scary. Devos and his family are all time hucksters and ideologues.

9. How strong is the state economy?
That's what often tilts the competitive gov races, especially one with an incumbent. If the state economy is worse than the national economy, Granholm may be in trouble.

She didn't come close to matching her final poll numbers in '02.

But I tend to put stock in bluestateguy's post that she hasn't gone on the offensive yet.

We need a big gov number this year. I'm shooting for +8 or higher
