WE are now MAINSTREAM. That means U as in DU.
CONGRATULATIONS, thanks to your persistence and dedication, we’re now representative of the mainstream at DU. Despite those who try to marginalize the user consensus on this forum, the mainstream is now catching up. Why not?

It’s obvious something dirty happened in 2004 and we’ve been the consistent source of this argument. Its obvious electronic voting is highly vulnerable to manipulation. The people have finally received enough bits seeping through CM to form a logical response, one they would have had from DAY 1.

So if we’re mainstream, does that mean we’re mundane? ;)

Percent of Those Surveyed in Zogby Pennsylvania Poll
Who Believe 2004 Presidential Election was Stolen
By Primary Source of Network Television News

Network
ABC = 56%
CBS = 64%
CNN = 70%
FOX = 00.5%
MSNBC = 65%
NBC = 49%
Other = 56%

Zogby: Released: January 06, 2004: America Culturally Divided; Blue vs. Red States, Democrats vs. Republicans - Two Separate Nations, New O'Leary Report/Zogby Poll Reveal: When respondents were asked whether Bush was legitimately elected president, or whether the 2000 election was stolen, 62% of Red State voters said that Bush is the legitimate president, while 32% said the election was stolen away from the popular vote winner, Al Gore. In the Blue States, half (50%) of the respondents said that the election was legitimate while 44% think it was stolen.
http://baltimorechronicle.com/2006/051106Kall.shtml

Now Check out Lou Dobbs online poll, 10,000 plus respondants.
We can assume that this tilts a bit to the center-right given Lou’s subject matter and presentation.

Do you think the United States should abandon electronic voting?

Yes = 84% (10,022)
No = 16% (1,961)

3. Statistics (from the article) on Fox New Viewers:
A lot more information on Fox News viewers :

After Fox News, the second choice for news network among Fox viewers is ABC 38% and MSNBC 37%, followed by CNN with 27%, NBC with 19% and CBS with 6%.

74% of it's viewers are married. 15% are single and 10% are divorced, widowed or separated. Whether they are fair and balanced, is up for debate. But they appear to be THE family channel, at least for Republicans. 64% have children. 85% of them come from non-union families. Among churchgoers, half go to church, temple or mosque rarely, never or just holidays. But for Fox News Viewers half go frequently. Among NBC viewers, 67% go most frequently. NBC has the most religious viewers. More born-agains watch NBC; 54% to 46%, and Born Agains are least likely to watch ABC: 95%/5%, MSNBC 78%/22%, CBS 76% to 24% and CNN 65%/35%. More Catholics, Protestants and Born-agains watch Fox News than any other news network.

82% of people who identify themselves as conservative and 80 of those who consider themselves very conservative watch Fox News. Zero liberal or progressives watch Fox News as their first choice, and 42% of moderates chose Fox News as their first choice. The first choice of progressives (very liberal) is Other, assumingly C-Span and the like. The first choice of Liberals is CNN.

Fox News is the favorite of suburban, small city and rural dwellers. CNN is the first choice of large city dwellers.

Among immigrants Fox News is the top favorite.

46% of men and 30% of women watch Fox News.

Less than 2% of Democrats favor Fox News, while it's the favorite for 75% of Republicans and 34% of independents. For Republicans and independents, Fox is the network that is first choice. CNN is viewed as first choice by Democrats, with 38% choosing it.

10. Very few won't! Like none, maybe. The deadline for conversion
to 2002 Help America Vote Act compliance has passed.

HAVA is basically a cramdown, stripdown, and lockdown of our democracy. It is cafe fully structured to shove people into touchscreen voting, the least verifiable type of voting. "Voter verified paper ballots" are better than nothing for this but not much more since a recount must be invoked to make them meaningful and those require very close races. How many of those do you think we'll have?

It's a mess but we'll prevail when the 2006 general elections turn into a chaotic revelation of the election fraud perpetrated by HAVA. Get you marching shoes on.

40. What choice is there? Only a few shows on MSNBC. All others are bought
and paid for. If the average Dem is being brainwashed it's because they watch at all instead of turning to BBC America or NPR OR PBS. Not to mention the fact that Dem leaders don't help explain why ALL US NEWS IS CORRUPT.

for the same precinct, and the ballots do not require maintenance.

Here's another way to look at it. The USA has a broad selection of outstanding software, hardware, and systems integration firms, really first rate. The vendors for voting machines are barely in the minor leagues of this ballgame. Think of the Help America Vote Act and all the subsidized purchases of expensive, lousy voting machines as welfare for lousy tech vendors. It gives them a leg up whereas, otherwise, nobody would buy their products.

24. Rove will have to spin hard on this one, but he'll come through...
"Look, it will keep more people away from the polls, make them hopeless." But that will be
nonsense because a whole bunch more, 20 million nearly, showed up in 2004 and we're just
getting started. The party needs to be positioned to really act and act quickly on general
concerns if they take the majority in either the Senate or the House. It's imperative. Health
insurance, jobs (we've a net loss of private sector jobs for *), and other key areas. It
should be exciting. Of course, if they "Diebold" us again, the "we do not consent" movement
will begin in earnest.

34. Good leaders follow the people...the people have to lead on this one.
And we should have to lead, it's our vote not theirs. It should be freely given but accounted for, the results honored as a public trust.

In the Republic of Venice, one of the longest lived, most tolerant and prosperous nations, the chosen leader had to sign an extensive contract barring any time of self-serving behavior. They were serious about this because there was too much on the line to fool around with graft and corruption.

We need to start that...lets make them sign a contract starting with "I did nothing illegal nor do I know of anything illegal in order to get election. Proof to the contrary will result in my immediate removal from office."

Cheers!

30. Another opportunity for outreach would be more general discussions
say for example like after the 2004 election and Jan. 2005 electoral count for general public-- not just the hard-working and impassioned statisticians and techies-- to join in, get informed, express the outrage, spread the word, etc.

There may have been a lot of people here looking for that at the time who kind of quit visiting the (dedicated, preoccupied) elections forum............

There was an immediate mainstream news blackout the week of Nov. 2, 2004. This coulda been the place for encouraging the general public to keep this issue alive and not fold and count on "Next Time"

:patriot: :hi:

You're the patriots, who will be historically significant in the fight to bring fair voting & democracy to the US.
