The Alternative To Cut and Run: STAY AND BLEED
Our heroes bleed daily in Baghdad and Mozul. Unnecessarily.

Our stature in the world has been bleeding since this administration destroyed the respect we once had around the world.

Our great military is bleeding from lack of funds and lack of wise leadership.

Great countries and great leaders know when to change course and to admit error.

It is far costlier to stay and bleed than to end this war swiftly, return with our honor and redeploy our might into actually securing the borders of our great nation from the threat of terrorism.

Stay and bleed? No true patriot should want to stay and bleed. It is profoundly UnAmerican to keep our young men and women as target practice for terrorists.

It takes great moral courage to leave. It takes great cowardice to stay and bleed.

Now that wasn't so hard, congressional Democrats, was it?

Learn how to FRAME!

1. How about "Stay and Pray"
BushCo has no plan except to stay the course pray it all gets better.

We don't need the government to spend billons of our dollars to pray, we can pray just fine ourselves. Get a plan or get the heck out.

6. I'm glad Murtha was at least trying to come up with something
but "Stay and Pay" sounds like a restaurant slogan.

Utterly devoid of anything meant to elicit emotional response.

4. I Liike Stay and Pray
Because it is quasi-religious and invites the question, pray for what? The health and well being of Iraqis? The lives of our soldiers? For the Iraqi people to "stand up"?

In fact, it is all of the above, and we all know that the people promoting this war don't give a rats ass about Iraqis, or peace. I call them on it all the time when I hear the bullshit that we're creating freedom for Iraqis.... I like to ask, "Back in 1999, did you ever wake up in the morning and tell yourself that you need to send in the troops to Iraq to make these poor people free?" Of course not, you were slagging them as "ragheads" when the subject ever came up, and it seldom came up. The bottom line is that the warmongers don't care about the Iraqi people, never have and never will. I recommend calling them on it. It shuts them up so fast it's almost funny.

2. Now there's a great turn of phrase.
Just like way back when - when "America, love it or leave it" was countered (though not frequently enough) by "America, change it or lose it."

I do really hope your counterphrase gets the attention and common usage it deserves.

8. well said, I actually
was thinking a lot about this phrase today- I looked it up, and the idiom seems to come from the Dickens novel "Great Expectations" about cutting the anchor, and sailing free-

Every time I hear the phrase, I think of slicing into flesh, and the blood running down-
Seems to me the cuts will continue if we stay- and the blood will continue to flow- LEAVING would take a mighty 'fire-power' out of the picture- How many civillians have died, at the unintentional, but every bit as deadly hands of weapons used by our military?

The phrase 'stay the course' came up today, my younger son was watching 'the Patriot' vhs- When the phrase was used in the movie, it made complete sense- The revolutionaries, the 'underdog'- insurgents- freedomfighters, had EVERYTHING to lose, and nothing to gain by quiting. The brittish on the other hand, could cut their losses, and go home- and their staying, would only have meant further blood baths- until every insurgent had been killed, or until enough Brits had died, and they gave in and said 'uncle'-
"Stay the course," is something ONLY the man who is placing his own life out at the front of the line has any 'right' to cry- It's far too easy for those who have nothing personal to lose, who are insulated by money and power to send others out to bleed and die for their 'ideals'- or corrupt motives.

Either bush should go to the front lines, or stand on the deck of the ship he will have to actually 'go down' with- not in a figurative sense, but in the flesh.

peace,
blu

11. Good One
Or sad one. And to defend the Dems, maybe one did say something close, who could listen to the whole thing.

I was actually thinking along the same lines today. Mine was, Lie, and Die.

But to your point. Dems have to frame, no doubt. Or maybe America may grow a brain one day.

THIS WILL BE SEEN AS A MOMENTOUS WASTE OF FUCKING TIME AND MORE USING AMERICAN DEAD TO PROP UP BUSH.

13. Exactly. Why can't our Dem Critters learn to speak???
A simple follow-up point is that after these troops are used up, there aren't any left unless we draft. They are on their third and fourth rotations, even if they manage to survive, I don't think they will be worth shit for a fifth and sixth rotation. Little Republican boys and girls might have to sign up for boot camp instead of the Survivor show or the other macho challenge shows.
