Democrats finally have 30 Governorships in Reach!
Over at http://electionpredictions.blogspot.com , we are now projected to win:

Alaska
Colorado
Maryland
Massachusetts
Minnesota
Arkansas
New York
Ohio

Things are looking up for Democratic Governors. This gives us a chance to prove we are effective in executive positions and it gives us a wealth of 2008/2012 contenders to draw from!

3. This is the key to fending off rigged elections.
It's our only hope. We need Democratic govenors and Democrat secretaries of states to assure that our elections won't be tampered with.

6. It's the whole ballgame as far as I'm concerned
I'll take every governorship and take my chances how that trickles to Senate and House, and downballot statewide races. Not to mention appointments. Fundraising. Cleaning up voting procedure. You name it.

This cycle is vital since we own many governorships in deep red states but most likely will lose some, if not all, of those states in 2010. I'm talking about Oklahoma, Tennessee, Wyoming, Kansas, Arizona. Might be one or two more I'm forgetting. But since we have all of those now, and our popular incumbents figure to win, we need numbers everywhere for the next four years to form a base.

The only problem is the South where we lost so many governorships beginning in 2002 and the prospects of reclaiming them look grim. Maybe Florida this year.

Nevada is not out of play either.

8. Yes, I forgot about Rhose Island
Competitive senate race also, so you can project a big turnout and that favors our side in Rhode Island.

I'm not as confident in California. Celebrity + warchest = trouble winning there. I wish that election had been held last November when Arnold was more vulnerable.

13. Kentucky is definitely in play. Although the election isn't until next
year our current REPUG governor is under indictment, just lost his running mate and is taking an e-x-t-e-n-d-e-d vacation in Florida to avoid having to appear at his arraignment!

Ernie "The Corrupt" Fletcher came into office after 30 years of Dem governors (the last one had an affair) vowing to bring "honor and dignity" back to Frankfort. He and his cabinet promptly started gutting long time civil employees and putting people he owed political favors into positions they were not qualifed to handle - sound familiar?). Before the Attorney General could even finish the investigation Fletcher pardoned his entire cabinet. Thought that would stop the investigation. Instead of stopping it just pissed the AG off and he continued and brought charges against Fletcher.

Fletcher is polling in the Dead Eye Dick range so there is true optimism that Kentucky will swing blue once again.

That said, Fletcher is McConnell's lap dog. McConnell is solely responsible for the mess in Frankfort today. Mitch is behind every evil thing that goes on in the Republican party in Kentucky. Now if we could just get this a$$wipe out of office.

19. Jim Gibson has taken the poll lead over Dina Titus in Nevada
43-34 according to SurveyUSA. That's for our nomination. Gibson has been running TV ads for weeks while Titus has not, so the margin may be misleading.

Both Democrats trail GOP frontrunner Jim Gibbons, a congressman who is sitting on a huge poll lead for the nomination and therefore staying out of sight like a vulnerable wimp, which he is. He's the only major candidate who has refused to appear on Jon Ralston's series of gubernatorial debates over the past week. Ralston hosts the Las Vegas nightly half hour political talk show and has been featuring a "Where is Jim Gibbons?" screen at the end of the program, mocking Gibbons for failing to appear.

Jim Gibbons vs. Jim Gibson is a nightmare for potential voter confusion.

Gibbons is legitmately the favorite in red leaning Nevada, and since the outgoing GOP governor Kenny Guinn is popular with the state in budget surplus. But Gibbons is not exactly quick thinking and has potential to bungle a general election campaign.

21. Is Doyle in trouble in WI??
My sister thinks he is and wants me to help her campaign for him, which I will. Mark Green is a bushbot zombie. Does anyone know if Doyle is really at risk. I cancelled my paper because it's a right wing rag, so I have not kept up on this race.

22. California must be
won back and the latest polls I've seen show the Dem ahead in Florida. Of course the fraud there is terrible. I too would like to think Dem wins would help stamp out election fraud but haven't seen much action from the ones in power now, so I would'nt get my hope up too much there sadly..........
