Convicted Former White House Official Steps Up Fundraising Efforts
What caught MY eye was that bit about a STORY to TELL. Hmmmm....maybe he'll start singing for dough??? Or more to the point, NOT sing if he gets some dough?????

http://www.tpmmuckraker.com/archives/000964.php

Days after a jury found him guilty on four felony counts, David Safavian sent a mass email to friends and supporters. He described himself as "numb — sort of an emotional paralysis," according to Roll Call, which obtained a copy of the note.

But he fought through that paralysis to write his pitch: I'm hanging in there, my family is great, and by the way I'm starting a legal defense fund. He went with a very soft appeal, leading with several paragraphs about the support he's received from his family and friends, a bit about his daughter, a couple grafs on his legal options. . . and finally, the ask:

What do I do now? I know I need to work on the legal defense fund, and am thinking about whether there is a story to tell here. But beyond that, I’m not quite sure. I’m praying for clarity and strength as Jennifer and I begin this next phase of our life together.
Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. And thank you for what you have done so far. I’m truly grateful.

David
Keep those cards and letters coming, folks. (Roll Call)

1. Hey, Dave, here's hoping you and Jennifer spend as much time
apart as the law allows.

Bastard

2. Hell, let him be an honest whore. Strap a mattress to his back
and earn his money the Jimmy/Jeff way. On top.

3. "Praying for clarity and strength" ??

Here's some clarity: You're a criminal. You are going to jail.

Here's some strnght: Start working out, and maybe you can fight them off and not become someone's bitch.

4. Typical Repug Group Think..."When in Trouble Look for a Book Deal.."
Sheesh...they don't ever think they did anything wrong when they are caught red handed. It's always someone elses fault or the courts fault so they start an appeal.

Shows "white collar crime" doesn't get punished harshly enough that these jokers keep doing it over and over and setting an example to others.

5. Fund raising.
The unmitigated gall of this bastard. My son has Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and fortunately our insurance pretty much has covered everything. My son did nothing to cause this illness to happen, it is just a quirk of fate. I just hope and pray that the insurance will continue to cover us. Otherwise we would have to take out the equity on our home or do fund raising. This Safavian bastard is responsible for his situation, He knew right of wrong and he did it anyway. I think it it reprehensible for people in his position to go and solicit funds for their defense funds. He was convicted and any payment of fines should come from what he currently owns. Whether it is stocks or collectibles or the equity in his home.. Maybe then the little bastard will understand what life is truly like for the rest of us. Son of a bitch trying to pay for his fines and legal fees by getting people to donate to him like he is a fucking charity. Sorry for the rant this just really pisses me off.

6. Another aspect is that he's telling his buddies "Cough Up the Money..so
I don't sing like a bird on YOUR involvement." After all he's probably expecting a pardon, too, so if he get's a big bag 'o money no one else will have to worry down the line. :puke:
