Another female member of the Congressional Black Caucus went unrecognized by a Capitol Police officer Wednesday. This time it was Rep. Corrine Brown (D-Fla.) who wasn’t wearing her Congressional lapel pin. But, then again, she hadn’t changed her hairstyle, either. http://www.rollcall.com/issues/51_142/hoh/13976-1.htmlThe "Photo of the Day" on the home page of The Hill:

CORRINEhttp://www.house.gov/corrinebrown/She wasn't wearing her pin. I began to wonder, given the trouble for McKinney when she didn't wear her pin, if Rep Brown was tempting fate or if that pin isn't really the universal big deal that the Capitol Police make it out to be. I called my Rep's office (Jim McDermott) to ask if he always wears his pin to get into the Capitol building. The staffer I spoke with wasn't sure but said that "they're recognized". I explained why I wanted to know: Are CBC members held to a different standard than other members of Congress?
He said he'd find out and call me back. He did (already!). The rule is that they are supposed to wear the pin and if they don't they can be sent through the metal detector.
But that doesn't always happen. If they're recognized, they can go through without it. Jim goes through sometimes without the pin.
