43 Dems voted today to save the billionaire babies from paying taxes

Almost exactly the same House Democrats who voted last week for Bush and his War Resolution voted today to save the billionaire babies from that evil dreaded estate tax.

Of course the majority of these same Democrats are in the DLC/NewDem wing of the Democratic party.

1. as I said

in a previous post. there is not one single issue that the Democrats can unify on. A majority of Americans opposes tax cuts, supports Iraq withdrawl, and supports a raise in the minimum wage...but Dems couldn't even unite on these issues. I don't know how they can run an effective campaign for Senate/Congress or pass any meaningful legislation.

2. I didn't pay attention to this bill - out of curiosity, were there other

aspects of the bill that were added to make a vote against harder? That's usually the standard operating procedure for the deceitful thugs.

3. Yes, they adding some logging provisions which will help

swing a couple of Democratic votes in the Senate. In the House, these same forty some Democrats always vote in favor of corporations/the elite.

6. there was another shot in the House today

a bill that would lower the rate, forgive me but I was doing something else while watching, but I believe estates below $5M would not be taxed, $5 to 25M rate 15%, and above $25M would be 30%. In the middle of the vote, it appeared all Dems and some Rs were voting for it. This was to move something through Congress on the estate tax since it was stymied by the Senate.

There is much happening in Congress, many competing bills and amendments. It would be helpful if you identified which one exactly you are talking about.

10. They did change something that will have a large effect....

They got rid of the, what I call the time and place tax....

Here is how it works now....

Say you have stock... You go to the broker and sell the stock for a $100k profit... You would pay $15k in taxes...

Now say you were on your way and you were killed before the deal was done... Your heirs would not have to pay that $15k in taxes... The $100k profit would be nulified by the bumped up basis provision... So that $15k would still have to be paid whether you got killed on the way in or on the way out....
