Harry Reid: "I Love the Blogs"

Thanks to David Grossman and the wonderful folks at PoliticsTV.com (PTV), we have a nice clip of Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), from the PTV program "The Congress," expressing his appreciation for the blogging community.

" They've been able to become powerful because they've learned to break through the monopolies we have with the media. That's why I so admire the blogs," said Reid. "They're able to get their message out and they don’t need to run it through some editor, they don’t have to run it through some publisher to get it done -- they just do it. And so, I love the blogs."

You can see more of that clip here and, if you haven't discovered PoliticsTV yet, now's the time to check out this great resource for original political programming straight from inside the beltway -- but not controlled by the beltway!

You can reach Bob Geiger at geiger.bob@gmail.com and read more from him at Democrats.com.

3. go bloggers!
May they continue to work to save democracy until the net neutrality bill passes and puts them all out of business!

government of by and for the corporations and bloggers are bad for fascists and corporate profits. The American People CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH! Free speech was getting pretty quaint, anyway...............

5. I'm so enjoying this.
Of course Harry's right, but the timing of this remark makes me smile - On Friday one of the owners of TNR ("Our editors are among the most respected and influential journalists in the country, known for their uncanny ability to get at the important stories long before they reach other media") wrote, "Forgive me. But I never read Daily Kos until today".

Skepticism and shock battle within my breast (a nod to said editor who loves hissef some toney talk); Is he lying or is he as incurious as George?

How, if one is tasked with a "rigorous examination of American politics, foreign policy and culture", does one avoid ever reading what is arguably one of the most influential purveyors of such a significant political and cultural trend? (of course, it's not the only one but who can deny its impact?)

Wouldn't that be a little like pretending Goldwater supporters had all dropped off the planet after his failed race? When Harry Reid, or the DNC chair, or the NYT, WaPo, CNN, etc., talk about "web logs" - or when those "web logs" raise headline-grabbing amounts of money, do the eyes of the TNR editor glaze over? Huh? My dog ate my political research of the last 4 years.....Someone said there's something on the other side of The Beltway, but I don't believe them!

Very enjoyable.

8. Good! Nice to see Reid giving this his approval.
At the rate he and our other Dems are going, the bloggers might be all the coverage he'll get. He BETTER be grateful for them.
