Hey, where DID the "Dems are going to impeach" meme go?
On the replay of Thom Hartmann's show this morning he mentioned this. For a while the RNC was putting out a scare tactic that went like this: "If the Democrats get in power, they're going to impeach the president!" They thought it would be a good way to scare Repubs into voting GOP this fall. Then, he said, it suddenly stopped--cold. He thinks that somebody in the RNC thought to do a poll and find out if Repubs actually cared about this issue, and found out that they don't!

So now they are on to the "Democrats are weak on terror" meme. That last one did disappear rather suddenly. ;) I don't think it was only because of the statements by Nancy Pelosi and others. If it was a good one, the RW echo chamber would still be on this one.

2. 1) They figured out that people wouldn't mind if he was impeached.
2) Democrats aren't talking about impeachment (and they Shouldn't be)

Rove figured out that they were screwed on that tactic.

3. They probably did the poll, and found out that impeachment was NOT
the booogabooogaboooga topic that they thought it was...there are more than a few on the right who have had it with Monkeyboy...from Fukuyama to Buckley to Sullivan, there's carping on that side. They are starting to realize that, golly gee, checks and balances ARE a good thing....the baaaastids!

Despite calls from the left for the process, the House D reps were smart to not count chickens before they're hatched. Better to keep quiet, and if and when we get a majority, start INVESTIGATING--holding hearings, public testimony, the whole kit and kaboodle. We're, after all, not the party that shoots first and asks questions later. Those guys are the clowns in charge today.

6. The point...is?
What is the point in impeaching Bush? Then we will just have Cheney as president which is just as bad. Is there a way to impeach the whole group at the same time?

9. The point is that it doesn't work for shoring up their base,
so they have abandoned it, seemingly. Which shows just how unpopular a guy * is.

It might indeed be better to just leave him in office, as you say. Don't give Cheney or any other Repub a chance to be an incumbent candidate. And by the time an impeachment would go through it would be almost time for the chimp to go, anyway. Even one Dem majority in Congress will put a damper on his evil ways.

11. The point is undermining this criminal administration.
Even if nothing ever happens, we gain by repeating the word IMPEACHMENT loudly and often.

Visualize IMPEACHMENT.
