Heads up - Serious swiftboat effort is brewing against Murtha.....

Check out this thread....

Some of you may recall, I have posted in the past couple months about some major news sources in Pennsylvania being picked up by GOP operatives. I also noticed that Glenn Beck had taken his CNN show to Pittsburgh and he and some RW radiohosts mocked Murtha for a good 20 minutes.

I really do believe he is targeted for a takedown, no matter how "safe" he appears now. You know how they work - all they need is the "appearance" that the race is getting close.

2. I hope they try, because that will be a fucking tipping point
Murtha's big feet have trod the rings of the Pentagon for lo, these many years. He's got friends in uniform, make no mistake. They won't put up with it.

3. I think you're right.
Don't forget, the White House and the Pentagon don't seem to be very chummy these days, if they ever were. I think there must be many in the Pentagon who want a timetable, but don't dare to say so. But an attack on Murtha would change all that. Anybody who thinks they won't close ranks to protect someone as well-respected as Murtha (ie, the right) is treading on thin ice.

22. And to ice that cake, the political appointees in the "House that Rummy
Took a Giant Crap In" are, shall we say, rather poorly regarded by the uniforms. The folly of that old fool Rummy is that we, as a nation, spent a fortune training the current military leadership on how to prosecute and win wars, and then, when it gets down to it, a bunch of chickenhawk assholes whose sole connection with the military was playing with plastic soldiers in their PJs on Christmas morning when they were in grammar school are doing all of the planning....and that's why kids are dying over in that hellhole.

You can bet on it that the uniforms want a timetable. In fact, they'd rather all turn into CHER and "turn back time," and do it, if they had to do it at all, the way Rick Shinseki wanted to do it in the first place!!!

5. I hope you're right, but don't I remember similar
predictions, (i.e. they won't get away with it, the cia will stop/revenge themselves on Bush) before? I'm not sure the Pentagon is as loyal to former friends as you think they are, especially when Bush is sending such an incredible money their way in what could be viewed as an attempt to buy them as well. I think it best not to underestimate Rove.

7. I agree - - look how the CIA held back from going public on so many things
just waiting for Kerry to get in. Now, more of them come out openly and spill the beans where they can. Too bad none of them focused on the voting machines.

23. Murtha isn't a "former friend" though
He still goes over there, they still amble up the Hill and see him. And there's all sorts of ways to make reporters know what's going on without actually telling them. Many reporters are adept at reading upside down, for example....

And the thing is, the Pentagon is NOT getting the cash--there are still procurement issues for basic military needs over in Iraq, to say nothing of the fact that there are BRUTAL installation budget shortfalls in CONUS and overseas as well--I read recently that one base in TX hadn't paid their light bill for three months and the utility was gonna shut them off--they had to lay people off to pay the bill.

Sure, HALLIBURTON is getting their dough, but Cher is raising money and using her own cash to send helmet insert kits over there...what's that tell us???

fat backsides! Best damn defense against these sissies is a good offense, IMO!

6. On Washington Journal this A.M.
Ilario Pantano was hocking his book Warlord.
http://www.bestprices.com/cgi-bin/vlink/1416524266BT.html

He was a rather eloquent hawk singing the praises of the US's "liberation" of Iraq. He was charged with murder for killings in Fallujah but thanks to the efforts of who he referred to as "great American Dr. Savage" raising funds, his civilian representation managed to exonerate him.

He made references to Murtha's "prejudiced, biased" comments, and that the media assists in that. He actually said the word "civilians" doesn't equate to innocent.

Disturbing. And sadly he was an attractive, intelligent, eloquent voice for a really messed up and false point of view.

8. Glen Beck is being groomed for "Savior 2008."
Right now he is where Rush Limbaugh was about 1990. The fundies have picked him to be "THE one" - so influential with moderates that it will swing the election to George Allen, or Jeb, in 2008. An extremely dangerous man - one democrats should not ignore.

hate radio is finally losing some potency, probably because of the preponderance of evidence that Repubslicans are lying, cheating, stealing, cowards.

As far as I know, Murtha's safe. I don't think you could get a more Democratic district than Johnstown, PA.

15. I'd like the Fighting Dems to start using "coward", "chickenhawk",
"draft-dodger" every day when these people attack. They seem to shy away from tough language on this issue.

16. Glen Beck is a crack whore for Christ
"Beck made his radio debut at the age of 13 in Seattle, Washington, and grew up in Mount Vernon. Beck had won an hour of radio time in a contest, but Beck quickly drew the favor of his new colleagues and was granted a part-time job as a disc jockey. He hosted Christian radio on Saturday, rock on Sunday and country on weeknights, but lost the job when he failed to complete a shift due to a migraine headache.

In the same year he debuted on radio, his mother, an alcoholic, committed suicide by drowning herself into a bay near Tacoma. More family tragedy followed shortly afterward as one of his brothers-in-law committed suicide in Wyoming and another had a fatal heart attack.

Beck experienced success in radio during his 20s and his career grew rapidly. Despite this new financial security, however, he became an alcoholic and a drug addict, even describing himself as "a despicable human being." He has admitted on his radio show to other severe consequences of his addictions including blackouts. While drunk, he fell out of a window, an injury later leading to chronic back pain.

The addictions culminated in a period of intense unhappiness and the disintegration of his first marriage, which had produced two children. With the help of family and Alcoholics Anonymous, Beck stopped drinking and using drugs. He subsequently converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and married Tania, his second wife."

fake macho GOP nut I know thinks Bush's a big war hero. He's a former cheerleader, fer God's sake!

18. It's a compliment and honor to be mocked by Beck. He is one
of the slimiest of all time radio/TV persons. He can't touch Murtha with anyone except the dumbest of the dumb and they are hopeless anyway.

Whenever I hear Sean Hannity and other Faux News pundits going after him, I always rhetorically ask which branch of the military did they serve in.

down. The Republican Party today is even worse than McCarthy and will be brought down, eventually.
