My letter to Senator Boxer about Leiberman. Write her, please.

Senator Boxer,

I am furious with the announcement of your intention to campaign for Joe Leiberman.

I thought you were one of the two or three in the Democratic party that actually 'get it'. This party has to stand for something, and it had damn well better not be Republican-lite me-too-ism. Those days are done. We've lost too many elections due to DLC types and their insipid, wobbly-kneed, equivocating, triangulating, un-principled positions and stances. The day of the wussy Dem is over.

YOU KNOW THIS.

Leiberman has to go AT ANY COST. He's simply not a Democrat. The man has been an affront to Democratic ideals for long enough. We, the activist wing, will no longer tolerate his kind in our party. If he wins the nomination, it's going to get very ugly; if he runs as an Independent it's going to get very, very ugly; if he wins the election he's going to wish he hadn't.

Senator Boxer stick your finger in the air, see which way the wind is blowing. How can you ignore this coming hurricane? You have been one of the leaders of our burgeoning movement to return the Democratic party to it's rightful owners. This plan to campaign for Leiberman is a misstep. A major misstep.

May I say that it is by no means clear that we are winning back our party. Many of us are disgusted to the point that we are considering leaving. Do right by us. Don't sell us out. Reconsider this plan. Don't let this slug Leiberman taint your good record.

This is one of those pivotal events that everyone looks back to and wonders why no one could see the trainwreck ahead. Recognize it, please.

Thank you for working for me.

2. I see no reason Joe should go. Sorry but the Dem. can take a moderate
who likes wars. I did not like Clinton voting for NAFTA or 'fast track' but I still voted for Clinton. I even recall he said he would look into it, which I am sure he did but still let it go in to power. He could have fought for the US more on both those things.

4. Joe's a knife looking for a back - he's not a moderate
he's a fricking suck up to the Administration. He gets hauled out in front of the cameras whenever they want to under cut the Democratic Party position on an issue and he's more than happy to do it as long as he gets his face on TV and some milky tea and cookies while waiting in the Green room (well maybe not the tea and cookies). Most recent example was during the senate debate on setting time table for Iraq with drawl the GOP had him speak FIRST.

5. Well he has usually voted as a Dem. this war thing stinks with them all
All the same ones now yelling voted for the war in the first place. I think they had no back born then and now if they can not say they made an error they are wimps. Sounds to me Joe L. really likes the crazy war. So his state, if they hate the war, should get him out. It all is up to his voters to my way of thinking. I really am very unhappy with most of them in this war vote any how. I do not know why they just gave into Bush. As if they were the House of Lords or some such thing. We put them in and I am not sure we were so into war. I did not know of any one who thought we should go into Iraq.

3. If I were a constituent, I would write her and tell her to read ....
Peter Galbreath's book on Iraq...

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=1602439&mesg_id=1602439

This is unbelievable stuff.

And I would tell her to demand that Lieberthug read the book as well and then either recant on his Iraq position, completely, or give her a satisfactory explanation as to why he would not recant.

There is absolutely no justification for this war or or for the continued occupation. And she has no rational reason for supporting Lieberthug.
