Can the Democrats Regain Senate Control? Here's a Run Down
With four months to go until Election Day, the odds the Democratic Party will regain control of the Senate remain doubtful.

But things are getting interesting. Some races that three months ago looked out of reach are now toss-ups. Others have Democrats in striking distance.

It's enough to make some pundits take a second look at the map, and take into consideration the possibility that a larger than previously expected number of Democrats may be motivated to vote this November, while a larger than previously expected number of Republicans either switch loyalties or stay home.

2. Thanks for the welcome
Sorry I posted this twice, still trying to get the hang of this. I keep getting error messages after I hit submit but then presto it shows up.

Now on the subject, I think you're right but then again with jerry mandering and what not it doesn't look good. I think we'll pick up some seat but not enough to take control. Maybe enough to effectively threaten filibusters til 2008.

10. Just a minor point ... if we're talking about the Senate only .....
.... then gerrymandering is a meaningless concept. Senate seats are statewide races; no districts. Gerrymandering of districts applies only to House seats.

Welcome to DU! :hi:

You post alot. Question, is there a way to track what post you have commented on? Been looking every where but can't seem to find anything that lets you do that.

9. There is indeed, my friend.
There is a button at the top of your screen that is labeled 'My DU'. If you click on that button, you will see a list of posts that you have made in the past 48 hours (and if anyone has replied to those posts) among other various functions.

11. The polls all indicate the Democratic party will win the majority
in at least one of the congressional houses. If they don't, then we need to hold responsible the repuke vote rigging machine.

13. What polls are you looking at?
Right now, according to polling for the individual races, Democrats stand to gain two-to-five seats in the Senate and five-to-ten seats in the House. Both fall short of a majority.

12. Prediction...
Democrats take...

Pennsylvania, Montana, and ...Tennessee (my upset special)

Republicans take nothing with one caveat...If Kwesei Mfume wins the Democratic nomination in Maryland he will lose to Michael Steele. If Ben Cardin wins the nod, he wins comfortably.

Dems will hold on to their open seats in Vermont (indie) and Minnesota.
