Non-profit status
It is time to tell Congress to enforce the laws and demand the Internal Revenue Service start denying the non-profit status of these churches advocating "pro-life", who to vote for, etc.

1. They are lobbyists. That's a business.
Many churches are businesses in the business of making people feel good about themselves and comfortable with each other, and even supplying entertainment, so they will put money in the collection.

2. I totally agree!!!!!
I was raised Catholic. The last time I went to church was before the 2004 election. I had not been in years but, due to my mother went one Sunday with her. I was SHOCKED when the priest vehemently denounced Kerry for his pro-choice stance. But, when he insisted that Bush was the only real choice, I walked out, with my mother in tow. Niether one of us has been back since.

3. I don't think the status is contingent on
overt neutrality on issues, just federal candidates. "Vote Greeley for President" is a violation, "vote for the candidate that's pro-life" is almost surely a violation if done in the context of a campaign (and "the candidate that's pro-life" has a clearly identifiable referent), "support pro-life legislation" is fine unless it's clearly a substitute for "support the candidate for federal office that would vote the pro-life line".

Religious institutions have restrictions similar to those that hold for other NGOs, whether Cornell, the NAACP, NARAL, or Greenpeace.

4. As a Christian I agree. Either get back to the great commision or
get out of the business. The Great Commision does not include playing politics.
