The gauntlet has been thrown down. Colbert begs Lieberman to appear on his show as he worries about the Lamont-post-Colbert bump in the polls. He even had a whole bunch of goodies to sweeten the spot.

He's reserved him a chair through the primary.

2. Last week a customer of mine called him her HERO.
I LOVE that customer.

And I agree with her 100%.

The man is an INSPIRATION.

3. I liked the chair bit
"Just like Jewish families set a place for Elijah during Passover dinner in case he shows up."

4. Oh my gawd, Colbert is so damn funny.

I saw Lamont's appearance -- he did well. Lieberman would inevitably suck, and his staff probably knows it.

5. Just following a classic -
SNL - Lorne Greene, offering the Beatles some money if they would show up....they could pay Ringo less if they wanted to

George Harrison came...it was a hysterical skit done in the back hallways of the set.

7. I loved that skit!
Lorne Michaels saying to George, "I thought you understood, it was $5,000 (or whatever the figure was) for all four of you."
