Bush dodges NE Ohio flood victims, attends Blackwell fundraiser
PAINESVILLE, Ohio (AP) — The president was visiting, but most people hard hit by northeast Ohio floods had other things to worry about Wednesday.

Muck and scorching heat created a pungent stench similar to the aroma of the pachyderm area of a zoo as residents pulled out furniture, appliances and an array of personal items, including clothing covered in mud and mold.

...

But some wished the president had toured their streets instead of meeting with politicians in Mentor, not nearly as damaged as Painesville and elsewhere in the area. He stopped by an emergency management bunker on his way to a fundraiser for GOP gubernatorial candidate Ken Blackwell, who greeted Bush at the Cleveland airport with former Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar.

Blackwell's campaign said about 650 people attended the fundraiser, which was expected to raise about $1.5 million.

...

"Quite frankly, the president's been through 11 hurricanes and he knows what a disaster looks like," said U.S. Rep. Steven LaTourette (R-Adulterer), who invited Bush to visit Lake County and was with him in the emergency operation center.

12. I grew up as browns fan
But when they moved and the league did not do shit about it
I grew disgusted with pro sports .... I used to never miss a
browns game ..... Now, who cares?

Bernie has to know the score about bush and company too.

Is Babette and B.K. really getting divorced?

a good source but I paid it no mind then.

Damn, this one hurts ..... to be sitting with my "buds"
and watch Bernie hit Web Slaughter in the end zone .....
life felt good.

3. LaTourette is insulting - does he have THAT syndrome? quite frankly
bush seeing hurricanes has nothing to do with lack of compassion for ohioans.

5. He is an arrogant ass
Recall, he divorced his wife after it was reported he'd been sleeping with a lobbyist. His wife didn't even know his phone or address in Washington DC, she had to call him at his office if she wanted to talk to him. He seldom went home to see his own children.

I've been in meetings with him before, he's a dull, boring and rude person, totally without character or personality. He looks like he buys his clothes at Walmart.

15. are there ANY of these overpaid, underworked sports figures who have
actually done anything positive for the betterment of humankind? I don't follow any sort of sports, and the only people I ever hear about have gotten busted for drugs or charged (and basically got off scot-free) for domestic violence.

21. a lot of sport figures have done a lot of good work ....
.... for a lot of causes. At the high school, college, and pro levels.

It is simple to be simple.

23. saying that doesn't tell me anything, you know-- it is just an assertion.
and what does "it is simple to be simple" have to do with this question?

24. It means that a lot of sports figures have done a lot of good work ....
.... outside of sports. David Robinson is a good example.

"it is simple to be simple" means you were being a simpleton.

27. Plain Dealer lies about it
I can't believe they used the headline - "Bush Tours Flood Zone". All he did was go to a command center, took a few pics, then went to the Fundraiser.

Lying jerks at PD will do anything to keep GOP control of Ohio.

10. None of this surprises me
And talking about big surprises ... amazingly Blackwell WON'T make his tax returns public. Gee, I wonder why. He is a millionaire. He already got caught (oopsie) with stock in Diebold, which was kinda bad what with him being the chief elections officer for the (not so) great state of Ohio.

Chimpy doesn't care, Kenny doesn't care, and LaTourette has always been a classless jerk.

Now if we could only get the morons in the media to report that Strickland is ahead by 12 points instead of the constant, "This is a close race." :eyes:

13. The president "knows what a disaster looks like"
Yep, every time he looks in a mirror, Mr. LaTourette. As an alumnus of Linfield, you're a shame to your name, sir.

See, unlike you, the president is supposed to be the president of all the people, even the ones who get caught in floods. But apparently this president is president only of the haves and the have-mores, his base.

14. sorry, steve, you idiot, but * has NOT "been through 11 hurricanes", he
has merely used some of them as photo ops. to have "been through" one, he would have actually had to be present during one, and he never has been. hell, he had to have katrina explained to him, for pity's sake.

and you, steve, are apparently a lying, sickening waste of oxygen.
