I keep getting an error message when I try to donate by credit card.
I have been trying for 3 days because I knew my year was up today. I wrote Skinner this morning, but darn it, I can not do anything.

I have a perfectly good up to date low mileage credit card, and a Pay Pay account, but I don't want to use pay pal...I want to use my credit card.

But it won't let me get past the page where it says click here to got to a secure site. The error does not even make sense.

"The link you have used to enter the PayPal system contains an incorrectly formatted item amount."

Anybody have a clue what the heck that means? I can not search, or use my group forums or do much of anything.

And if I do end up having to use PayPal, it does not give a name to put in the space where it says who to send the money to. Would it be just Democratic Underground or what?

1. The computer is our friend. So this must mean that the computer
doesn't like you.
You must have done something bad.
Apologize.

2. Heh heh.
Just did a search on that term at some tech forums, and they are scratching their heads over it.

So even if decided to use pay pal, which I don't want to do...I couldn't even get there.

I could log in to my personal Pay Pal account, and enter the proper name, but doggone it I like to use my credit card.

3. Can just drive you nuts sometimes.
I honestly don't know much more than
the superstitious advice I offered.
Another thing I do in these instances
is let it go for a day.
Seems when I try 24 hours later
everything works!
Good Luck !

4. Read some more on the error message...must be programming code.

Doesn't look like I can fix it myself...nothing I can do. Most of the sites I read were linking to PayPal and having the message come up...getting no real help from Pay Pal.

So I will have to do with out my star and my searches and my group forums for a while.

10. Actually I did see such a solution....
while I was searching. LOL

Not sure it was rupees, but another currency. It was a serious suggestion.

8. Would it have anything to do with using or not using decimals...
like 25 vs 25.00? I doubt it, though.

9. That would be programming or format, though.
There is just a box to choose your amount, and then the "other". No place to write unless you choose other.

Still haven't heard from Skinner. Not sure what to do. Just wait, I guess.

I am going to try a search at another search engine and see if something turns up.

12. Another page...says you must enter whole number.
No choice, just had to choose an amount by clicking in the little round circle.

PayPal Problems?
The link you have used to enter the PayPal system contains an incorrectly formatted item amount.

If you see this PayPal error then you did not enter a whole number for the amount. The amount must either have no cents, or two digits of cents (valid: 3 and 3.40, invalid: 3.4). Go back, correct the amount and try again.

If the handling fee is not added automatically, go back and add the amount to the payment and try again.

The PayPal system is administered by PayPal. If you have any problems please contact their customer support via the help link on their web site.

13. Definitely error code not on my side....If you try donate...do this.
Click other, enter an even amount with dollars and cents.

I got it done by figuring it out myself.

Surprised I am the only one.

15. Ok, I will
The donate page specified Skinner, though, and that is why I contacted him first.

I will send a link to this thread, maybe.

Thanks. At least I got the donation through.
