No skin in the game
This, from a New York Times article about the death of Democratic Sen. Max Baucus's nephew in Iraq, says all you need to know about the Bush administration:
A White House aide, who requested anonymity because his information was preliminary, said Wednesday that he knew of no top Bush administration official who had a relative who had served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The top officials in this administration have no skin in the game. The defense secretary couldn't even personally sign condolence letters. The president has yet to attend his first military funeral. A top Republican senator thinks supporting the troops means putting one of his bumper stickers on your car. And on and on and on ...
