Can you blow up a plane with MakeUP?

Just on Fox, a congressman (they didn't put his name up) said he talked to a woman today and she said they took away all her makeup at an airport search.

That would be about enough for me to grab my stuff and say the hell with flying on your damn planes.

I feel that all those people waiting in long lines at the airports should demand a refund for their fares and walk out in mass and demand an end to this intrusion of their personal privacy. This is pure BS.

What good are people's belongings once they have been fingered by strangers who you really don't know where their hands have been or if they have been washed?

Seriously, how much more can we take??? I mean, it may seem insignificant to some, but this inability to travel with carry-on luggage that contains personal items will only last so long before people will just flat out refuse to fly. How long before them impose the same restrictions they're imposing in the UK right now -- no laptops, electronic devices, cell phones, handbags allowed as carry-ons? How long before this takes down the airline industry? How long before we say we've had enough???

I'm seriously rethinking a trip to China in September. It's not because I'm afraid to fly. It's because I refuse to be inconvenienced anymore by this fucking regime. It's just not worth it.

What I have noticed with some interest is this: there has been NO mention of books. I haven't heard anybody say that books are not allowed. Now, I do an increasing amount of flying - and overseas, too. I'm not talking 7 hours to Paris; I'm talking 20+ to Asia. I would be OK without my laptop, my iPod, my gameboy, dried fruit/jerky, but god help me if I'm not allowed to take along a couple of books!

Is this a comment on the relative safety of books, or an indication that nobody reads anymore? And :wtf: am I supposed to do for 22 hours on the way to Delhi? They'll give me water, but I can only maturbate in public so much.

I take a diuretic for high blood pressure. I really need to have bottled water with me on a flight longer than 1 hour. And who's checking the security of what the airline puts on board as drinks?

No books or magazines allowed? What are you supposed to do, stare forward in the fully booked plane for hours and hours? How cranky are the children going to be without crayons and dvd's and games?

Do you carry your tampax to the bathroom in the plastic bag or out of the bag, which one is it?

Extra eyeglasses not allowed? HUH?

I've traveled to Europe many times and before 9/11 the security there at airports was very tight. What they would do is NOT treat everyone like a terrorist or drug smuggler, but they had very well trained people talk to you and size you up before you got on the plane. I wish the TSA in the US would figure out how to do that instead of harrasing every traveler. Oh wait - it's probably cheaper to pay someone to rifle through every woman's purse, than to train some experts.

My grade 11 chemistry teacher started his year with a bang by doing exactly that - taking innocuous looking stuff and creating smoke, fire and explosions out of them.

You can hide crystalline explosives in any product that is in liquid or powder form (compacts, blush, etc, are simply compressed powder). And, make-up is a very common, overlooked item in a carry-on.

I did hear that some airports were offering people padded envelopes to address and that they were shipping the items to passengers' homes for free. I think that's very decent! My first thought when I heard about the make-up was that I'd probably have to miss my plane to go to a post office - I admit that make-up is my one splurge and what I'd probably have in my bag would be worth more than the cost of changing my flight!!
