Heck of a job, Bushie
With today's news, we again find ourselves asking: Exactly how much safer are we? Whatever happened to the "we're fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here" philosophy? It's probably in the same undisclosed location today as the "treating terrorism as a law enforcement action is the wrong thing to do" philosophy, both of which are held by the Republican Party.

And with word coming that the administration was well aware of the investigation that led to these arrests, we again find ourselves asking: Why is the president still on vacation? He already owns the presidential record. By the time he leaves office, President Bush will have spent more than a year of his tenure in Crawford. Does this amaze anyone else? I'd like to know what would motivate this man to leave Texas in August. It wasn't September 11. It wasn't Hurricane Katrina. In fact, when making a special speech about Katrina, the president couldn't even be troubled to spend more than one fifth of the address discussing the storm. No, he said "On another matter ..." and proceeded to discuss the Iraqi constitution.

Perhaps if Terri Schiavo had hijacked a jetliner, Bush could have been bothered to stop clearing brush and return to doing his job. In case you haven't been paying attention, shit isn't exactly going so well around the world. Yet we've got a president - arguably the most important person in the world - who is workin' for the weekend. Actually, it's debatable whether or not he's actually working. Do they still consider driving America off of a cliff work? If so, heck of a job, Bushie. That war on terror you keep talking about? Great job with that.

1. If Dem Politicians Have Half A Brain
they will repeat this - Bush's war has not made us safer. The Republican plan to fight terrorism does not work, we feel less safe.

kudos to British intelligence.

We are spending money in the wrong ways and wrong places. Republican failure

2. Oh yes, try to beat them at their game of scare tactics
rather than question the whole nature of how this is being handled and used for Republican advantage.

4. I thought
"... we are fighting them over there,
so we don't have to fight them over here"?

This is what the Dems should hammer home.

6. If we hadn't pissed them off so much 'over there'...
...we might not be NEEDING to 'fight them over there rather than over here'...:eyes:
Whoops...there I go, blaming America first again. :sarcasm:

3. Maybe he should have worked less.
The more he's been involved the more disasterous everything gets.

8. Obvious evidence
The obvious evidence that something is wrong is, who the hell would choose to spend AUGUST in Texas?

I know D.C. gets muggy as hell, but I'd be heading to Kennebunkport, since that's an option. Texas? Hell, no. January, maybe, but August?? I'd have to have a screw loose.

9. I've been to Crawford
I used to live about 20 miles from Crawford, and I've been there. And I'm here to tell you, I have no freakin' clue what is so great about Crawford. It's just some dead mesquite toppled over on a feeble prickly pear, with a cow-trail by-passing the non-site. There's no water, to speak of; it isn't even in the Hill Country proper; it's one of the most utterly indistinguishable places I've ever been. Of course, I could see it being a place for cocaine-running planes to land on their way from Columbia. Just a thought.
