Connecticut Senatorial Debate ...
In choosing to honor the long standing tradition of holding a separate debate for second tier candidates while reserving the main debate time for major party candidates; Senator Joseph Lieberman offered this assessment.
"I am an independent democrat damn it. Why are you making me debate those idiots? Its Lamont I want to debate. I need the TV time. No, wait, come back .."
Yes this years debates are certain to offer an unusual degree of excitement. Some are already calling them the "thriller from the chiller" in recognition that the debates will be held within the state's maximum security prison at Somers due to the incarceration of a number of the candidates.
The Aryan Brotherhood's candidate, Edwin Zepinski, serving a 30 year to life sentence for hate crimes, has vowed to "choke Lieberman's chicken" should he ever "have the pleasure" of getting into the same room; while American Nazi party candidate Rudolph Epinmer plans a spirited defense of nazi cultural history.
For his part, Senator Lieberman plans to advance his case for "staying the course", but uncertainty lurks like a dark cloud over the festivities and anything is possible.
Be sure to tune in to WSOM 88.7 September 18th to partake the spectacle of this event.
