Bush and Condi clash over Israel; president overrules her for the first time

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has become increasingly dismayed over President Bush's support for Israel to continue its war with Hezbollah.

State Department sources said Ms. Rice has been repeatedly stymied in her attempts to pressure Israel to end strikes against Hezbollah strongholds in Lebanon. The sources said the secretary's trip to the Middle East last week was torpedoed by the Israeli air strike of a Lebanese village in which 25 people were killed.

"I've never seen her so angry," an aide said.

3. And one of the other tabloids had a headline last week about
"Bush divorce settlement". Maybe he's decided to patch things up with Laura and that's why Condi is mad.

5. The Globe (same sort of paper) sez .....
.... (paraphrased): George and Laura's divorce settlement reached. Laura wins. Condi loses.

8. I don't know about the source, but it paints an interesting picture
of the Preznit and (more to the point) Cheney and Rummy trying to hold off international action long enough for Israel to "do strategic damage to Hezbollah. Seems the plan's not going off as hoped though, as the offensive gets bogged down in southern Lebanon. Perhaps it's yet another instance of the Neocons over-playing their hand, and/or under-estimating the resistance to their designs.

11. I know what happened; dunce forgot to tell that Rice woman
"just pretend to go over there and make peace, because we really want to stretch out this war!!" (PNAC agenda)

"You stupid Condi, you weren't really suppose to do your job, that's why I made you Secretary of State!!"

I only have people work for me that are MORE INCOMPETENT THAN ME! And don't ever let your poll numbers get above mine.

Hence, this is why dunce keeps Rumsfeld and Cheney, (polls in the 20's)

15. Sounds like street theater to me
Sure, I wish Bushdom would crack and implode from within, but I doubt they'd let it be known publicly if that were happening.

17. BAHWWHAHAHHAHAAAAAA
when this is through, the right wing echo chamber will blame her. ANYTHING to avoid making BUSH responsible for something. they've already been hinting at her being the latest designated asshole. the poor woman is probably as deluded as bush, thought her voice actually meant something. only cheney and rumsfeld are the true power in the white house.

19. Can't say what's up with these two, but the report of Condi blowing a fuse
Edited on Sun Aug-13-06 08:45 AM by Old Crusoe
was real interesting.

In a way, these two deserve each other. Bush is a clueless, soulless moron and she's a cobra slithering across the aristocratic veranda. In no other set of circumstances would they even give each other a passing glance except in a bordello or a power matrix, and politics is often a blend of both.

Condi dumped Academia and let her inner oil puppet take over the control panel in her brain. She can play the upper-level Brahms repertoire on a grand piano but chooses instead to hang out with this pack of savages. She gets what she pays for.

As for Dubya, he's a lost cause at this point. I'm not sure he was ever redeemable. With new polls showing him at an all-time approval low, and his party on the brink of being bulldozed by the Democrats in November, he gets what he pays for, too.

What a damned refreshing evening those first Iowa caucuses will be in winter of 2008, because they'll herald the first hours of the end of this horrific administration.
